Music, Movies, and Books

I’m currently exploring a fascinating mix of narratives. First, there’s ‘Cartas Brasileiras’ by August Willemsen, a significant work in Dutch literature that provides an insightful external perspective on Brazilian life and culture. Willemsen’s letters, written during his extended stays in Brazil from 1967 to 1984, offer a detailed and unvarnished observation of the country’s everyday life.

Alongside this, I’m reading ‘Filha do Nordeste Brasileiro’ by Angela Brodbeck, a true story that exceeds any fairy tale. It’s an inspiring narrative of a woman from Recife who, despite humble beginnings and numerous challenges, chases her dream of living in Europe, confronting tragedies, passions, and adventures far beyond what she could have imagined.

Lately, I’ve been immersing myself in the captivating world of Mina Mazzini’s music. Her incredible versatility across genres like pop, blues, jazz, and even bossa nova, has truly captivated me. Mina, a legend in Italian music, has the unique ability to blend modern styles with traditional melodies. Her powerful voice and dynamic performances are something I find deeply inspiring. If you haven’t yet experienced her music, I highly recommend it. It’s a journey through a rich musical landscape that continues to resonate with audiences around the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve been fortunate to experience a tapestry of incredible moments, from life-changing experiences to the joy of countless friendships. The smiles exchanged along this journey are too numerous to count, each one a cherished memory.

Teach, Learn, Share

I’m passionate about building friendships and learning about different cultures and countries. I’m always eager to discover unique aspects of your homeland, the ones not typically highlighted on TV. In exchange, I’d love to share insights into my own lifestyle and the hidden gems of my country. Connecting and exchanging cultural experiences truly enriches my life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a traveler and a guest, I bring more than just my luggage to my hosts. I come bearing stories from my own culture and experiences, rich with traditions and insights unique to my homeland. I’m eager to share my favorite recipes, perhaps cooking a traditional dish as a gesture of gratitude. Music is another gift I carry with me; I love introducing hosts to the melodies and rhythms that resonate back home. Engaging in conversations about my country’s history, art, and lifestyle, I hope to provide a new perspective and a glimpse into a world they might not be familiar with. In exchange, I’m enthusiastic about learning from my hosts, embracing their customs and wisdom, making each stay a mutually enriching experience.
