About Me

I'm interested in knowing new places, people, cultures, geographies, and climates in the U.S., where I've been living since August 2019. My life has been marked by the history of transformation and change and violence that my country has experienced since 1989, and I have turned to literature, travel, politics, art and research in general, trying to find an explanation about the relation between the small stories of individuals and the great epic stories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have really enjoyed meeting people, either as a host, or as a guest. I think that a good way to get to know a country or a city, more or the same as going to the great historical or natural monuments, is to get to know life inside a home, even if it is for a short time.

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a bunch of favorite excerpts, chapters, and sections of books that have shaped my life and my personality, so I think of books more as collections of those great moments of reading and writing. May be Martian Chronicles, by Bradbury, Ficciones and El Aleph, by Borges, Frankenstein, by Mary W. Shelley, and Theses on the Philosophy of History by W. Benjamin are among the few books of which I think about as such (yeah, you can tell how wordy and intense did I get in this section: books are a very important part of my existence).
When it comes to movies, I love the perfect mix between cleverness and entertainment, movies like Little Miss Sunshine, and stuff by directors like Tarantino, Iñárritu, Copolla, Kubrik, etcetera. I loved Parasite!
My top five of tv shows so far: Seinfeld, Breaking Bad, Mr. Robot, True Detective (only Season 1), Rick and Morty, but I have a long list, and there’s very good stuff coming every month.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In a solar eclipse, in 1998, in the Falcón state, in Venezuela; a visit to the ancient city of Palenque, in Chiapas, Mexico; One night I spent at sea, in front of the Tortuga island; a Pink Floyd Concert in Caracas...

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm officially a Spanish teacher, and I can teach a couple of salsa, bachata and merengue moves and turns. If you want to switch to open source software, I can teach you the basics as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can make a couple of Venezuelan traditional dishes, and some vegan breakfast as well. Mojitos are on me. And I can make a non alcoholic version if you don't drink as well.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, France, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay

Countries I’ve Lived In
