Overview
About Me
I am a fourth year college student from Texas! Born and raised here, but I have been around the United States as well as some parts of Europe between my past in Boy Scouts, conferences, and scattered family due to the Vietnam War. Growing up, I always enjoyed trying new things, so I've dabbled in just about every sport, from golf, soccer, basketball, a little bit of gymnastics back in the day. In high school, I started running cross-country and track and that was my main thing then. Another habit I developed while growing up was genuinely understanding the "why" behind everything. I remember the first time I was amazed was in 4th grade when simple machines were introduced to us (yeah sorry I'm a bit of a nerd). It just blew my mind that a little kid like me could lift and move objects that I would have had no chance beforehand! One last habit that really shaped the person I am today was reading. In reading, anyone can be anything, new philosophies are explored without boundaries, ideas can be preserved through the sands of time. My favorite part about reading is that I can learn and take on new perspectives that no one (physically) around me can teach... I could go on and on, but we'll just leave it there.
Nowadays, I'm studying in college as an engineering major, but I am still not 100% sure what I want to do (remember, I like to learn a little bit about everything) and just about every subject is interesting. Enough about school though, I also like to play ultimate Frisbee for the club team at my college and intramurals whenever the season is. On the weekends, I honestly prefer hanging out with a small group and friends rather than go out and party... I find it to be a lot more enjoyable to just have a deep, invested conversation with as many people as possible, but what I find is once a group is bigger than about 6, the group will split into 2 or more "conversation bubbles". However, I will go out but it would honestly be for the camaraderie rather than the actual "going out" part. Other times though, I just want some space to relax by myself, nothing against anyone.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I hope to be able to meet new people as well as chase my dreams. But to dream, I need a place to sleep, so here I am. (I like puns too, but will hold back if you ask)
P.S. I currently live on-campus at my college, so I can't offer up a place to stay, but definitely will as soon as I move off-campus!

Music, Movies, and Books
I will honestly listen to any type of music depending on my mood. My favorite two study instrumentals are "River Flows Into You" by Yiruma and "Canon in D Major" by Pachelbel. Some other songs would be "How Far We've Come" by Matchbox Twenty and "Ray Bands" by B.o.B. I really enjoy the energy from rock/alternative and the word play in R&B/rap!
I really enjoyed Ip Man and Ip Man 2 with Donnie Yen, as well as the Black Panther that recently came out. There hasn't really been a movie I've seen that I genuinely disliked, other than The Room...
One of my favorite books is the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teenagers, that book changed my view on many things. When I read a lot in middle school, my favorite series was the Eragon series, though the ending could have been a bit better in my opinion. I also like to say that I read the Hunger Games series before they became popular, even before the books were popular (just give me this). Reading books has always been one of my outlets and has enabled me to understand motivations of other people (this goes back to my gravitation towards knowing "why") and so I get along with most people because I try to see where each person is coming from.
Teach, Learn, Share
Apparently people like hearing foreign languages so I can teach you a little bit of Vietnamese, as well as show you some recipes! I'm not quite as good as my mom, but I'm trying to get there!
This past summer, when I was working as an orientation leader, I was told that I make a really good motivational speaker (I like watching motivational videos when I'm procrastinating homework... The irony) so if you ever need something to set the wheel in motion, I'm the guy!
