ABOUT ME
We are a Polish couple, aged 24 and 27. One just finished his studies and the other one is still struggling with master thesis. Now we are trying to adjust from study days to regular life without loosing sense of humor and our dignity ;)
PHILOSOPHY
“Never try to be better than someone else. Learn from others, and try to be the best you can be.” (John Wooden)
When you find something holding you back, kick yourself in the ass to jump over it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far we both hosted only close friends. Last time Piotr was hosting his Japanese friend his family bought a new bed, just to accommodate him ;)
Interests
One of the biggest passions we share is cooking. Actually we can spend a crazy amount of time in the kitchen preparing different meals and desserts. Whenever time allows us we are in the middle of putting a cake into the oven. Naturally the feminine side is the brains of the whole operation while male instincts usually assist with cutting the ingredients and tasting the final product :P
We are definitely interested in Cinema spelled with capital â
- cooking
- desserts
- movies
Music, Movies, and Books
We get along when it comes to Cinema as well but it’s the “boyish” side that is more enthusiastic about it. While E is more laid back and can watch whatever gets served, P likes to be picky.
The silver screen is one of his favourite topics and he can go on and on about it. He enjoys different kinds of film productions starting with Film Noir in all of its forms like Neo Noir and SF Noir (The Big Sleep, Seven, Blade Runner...) ending with Quentin Tarantino’s kitsch (Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction...). All twisted films that make your head spin are welcome along with the works of David Lynch (Lost Highway, Blue Velvet...) and major part of British productions. There is also a “geeky – dorky” side of it. Characters from old TV series are still good for short moments of entertainment (yep say hi to William Shatner and his crew :P). Finally there is the last thing that nobody ever suspects and that is Anime (if you know Mamoru Oshii and Studio Ghibli we will have tons of things to talk about).
Book wise there are two kinds of literature: Classic and Popular. Generally we both like it all. Usually we listen to friends’ recommendations sometimes picking up classics and sometimes trendy new stuff. One thing to add is that one of us (the one with worse handwriting :P) made Master studies in Literature .
As for music different genres and artists starting with classical music and ending on heavy metal fit our tastes, although we don’t necessarily follow all of the “started with band x, moved to band y in date z:” stuff.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Guess the most amazing thing we done, was deciding to go to Denmark, going through a lot of trouble with the Danish Language to finally meet at a Danish language school. Isn’t it a small world out there? Two Poles that could never meet in Poland (because of the distance between our hometowns) introduced in English while learning Danish.
Teach, Learn, Share
Both of us like to share new experiences with nice, friendly and open-minded people. Since there is a proven connection between heart and stomach we could for example cook something together to break the ice.
As for the learning part we can all learn not to take life to seriously and use any occasion to be spontaneous and enjoy it to the fullest.
