ABOUT ME

I have a masters in art therapy counseling. My husband (https://www.couchsurfing.org/people/fmj30cal/) and I moved to Pennsylvania where he works for Penn State and I work locally as an art therapist. I lived in Illinois through middle school and my mom and I moved to Florida where I attended high school. I went to Florida State University for undergrad and attended graduate school in a small town in Kansas. I love my friends and family. I am pretty quiet until you get to know me, and then I talk, maybe too much! Most people consider me the nice girl, the one you can rely one. I often do things for others and forget about myself, and it doesn't bother me one bit. In grad school (in a counseling program), we were constantly reminded about self care, so I try to remember to do things for myself, too. I get a lot out giving :)

Interests

I love art. I love painting, photography and jewelry making. I love children, well I love people in general, animals and nature. I love being outside. I love chocolate and coffee, basil and spinach. I love to volunteer and I love to help people. I love finding the lovely in people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There is no way to just pick one. Summer 2012, I traveled to the Bahamas where I was lucky enough to do art therapy with children who have physical disabilities. But the art is not what meant the most to them. Being there every day with them, smiling at them, and looking into their eyes, showing them how much we cared, and seeing them smile back, was priceless and very rewarding. Service like this someone might say is amazing, and to me, it is, but also, sometimes we forget little blessings are amazing, too. Being able to walk, or read, being able to eat and drink clean water. Waking up in the morning, having friends and family near, or simply being healthy....I have really done a lot of amazing things, and I do them EVERY day.
