About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been lucky enough to travel a lot, more than the average Singaporean, but that's also made me wish for something more out of my travel experience. I've had the most fun and learnt the most when friends bring me around their hometown, and I equally explore new places in Singapore when I bring them around. it also (however briefly and maybe pretentiously) makes you feel like you actually live in that city, attuned to its quirks and routine.

talking about my home helps me understand how I feel about it, and traveling and learning about the world, keeping each as an experience that isn't easily replicated (in want of time & money), is important to me.

Interests

books, travel, music, watercolour (in small and not so skilful quantities), badminton, taking walks, coffee, lots of sleep, lots of jasmine green tea, adventure, all sorts of blue, french 75s, planning birthdays and events (both in real life and in my head), looking at catering menus & choosing my favourite food

my perfect get-together would consist of a Subway platter (with hearty Italian, sweet onion and extra ham) and a sushi platter (salmon and sweet prawn)

Music, Movies, and Books

music: the magic numbers is my absolute favourite band. I like mellower sounds like boy, avalanche city, ben howard, gregory alan isakov, metric, stars, kings of convenience, rachael yamagata, aimee mann. i haven't figured out the different styles of house but they're my study go-to!

movies: anything funny, sweet, definitely with a happy ending. i like thrillers and conventionally ~deeper~ movies but i never watch them more than once - always stuck with the rom coms and family friendly ones. quite tellingly, the movie i've watched the most is the parent trap.

books: anna karenina, anything by kazuo ishiguro and fitzgerald (though his books get a little too much to handle sometimes), simon van booy (the secret lives of people in love & everything beautiful began after), alice munro.
