About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Find my "heart home" :)

ABOUT ME

LATEST: Living in Brussels... trying to make things work as an English teacher here :)

Born and raised in the Washington, DC area, a real suburban girl at heart (I like porch swings and neighbors who are like your family). Spent 6 years in NYC, loved it, but was ready for a change. So now been in Brussels since 2015 (ahhh! time flies!), working as an English teacher.

I enjoy going out for a drink and sometimes dancing, but I've become low-key; you're more likely to find me at home reading on any given night. I love children and cute fluffy animals (but really who doesn't?) and rice and pineapple and checking things off my to-do list. I was very Covid-worried and although I've relaxed a great deal, I really appreciate people who are considerate of other's health and/or anxieties.

note: because of my small shared space, i only host women CSers for right now, unless I know you through mutual friends. thanks for understanding guys!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't been very involved for a couple of years now, but I really love it and getting back in now. I think it's a great system, and I love it when I get to meet couch surfers (surfing, hosting, or running into surfers, by accident or through friends).

Thus far, my wonderful couchsurfing experience has been:

2 nights in Lille with Jeremy!
1 night in NYC with Thomas and Marie!
3 nights in Bristol with Robin!
4 nights in Athens with Christina!
1 night in Athens with Nikos!
1 night in London with Lisa!
1 night in Edinburgh with Darcy
1 with in Edinburgh Joao!
3 nights in Montreal with John!
2 nights in Raleigh with Alana!

2 nights hosting Asser in NYC!
7 nights hosting Polina in NYC!
2 nights hosting Marie in Brussels!
2 nights hosting Jennifer in Brussels!

I have had such a wonderful time with everyone, and this doesn't count all the CSers that I have met here and there, whether at CS events or just randomly!

-Astronomy (and astrology: guilty pleasure!)
-Reflexology
-Chick flicks
-Painting (acrylics--you can make plenty of mistakes!)
-Organ donation (not an interest so much as something I feel strongly about...)

Music, Movies, and Books

Pride and Prejudice and everything Jane Austen. Count of Monte Cristo. Lord of the Rings. I love reading and that's my idea of a fun night in :)

I'm not very music literate or interested. But if you come, I might make you listen to some Belgian stuff cause Jacques Brel is pretty cool. And Stromae :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't think I can claim anything amazing, but I'm proud of running my 20k, and becoming vegetarian, and helping to run language classes for refugees in Brussels.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to learn ANY kind of new dance! From the funky to the refined: you'll find a willing, though uncoordinated, student in me :)

I'm vegetarian, but not necessarily a good cook or a healthy eater; I'm always looking for easy, yummy ways to eat vegetarian (and vegan is even better!) :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Senegal, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States
