About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Finding my way to help make the world a more sustainable place...
Getting settled and enjoy a new life in Jakarta, Indonesia.
ABOUT ME
I'm a fairly easy going and down-to-earth guy. I enjoy the company of new, interesting people I meet on my travels, but I also appreciate personal and quiet time on my own as well. I don't always talk a lot, but I have a keen interest in many different topics and am always eager to hear a good story about anything, really. My friends would probably say that I am more of a listener than a talker, but I take many forms :)
For sure I'm always up for a beer or two, and definitely enjoy a fun night out!
I have been part of several youth and student organisations (e.g. BEST(Board of European Students of Technology) and AFS Intercultural Programmes), enjoying the volunteer work very much, and getting to know people and places for what they truly are. That's the reason I'm here as well, to continue this way of travelling and meeting people.
I love to have good discussions about life, politics, sports and whatever is happening in the world (preferably over a nice dinner and glass of wine!), and can easily stay up all night if the mood is good :)
PHILOSOPHY
We all have different starting points in life, and we have to live with them. All that matters is that we strive to improve and develop on our own terms. My starting points were not always the best, but I have a great interest in personal development and try to reflect on my life and how to improve it. Some times it feels like a slow process, but I try :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I want to both surf and host, although my place does have its limitations and right now I can't host.
I am hoping to take part in different local CS events to meet new people and feeling the travelling spirit, although not on the road all the time :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far I haven't managed to use the CS Network as much as I hoped, but I have stayed at many places and hosted people through my work in international student organisations, which can resemble couch surfing quite a lot.
I have hosted a few people over the years when it could fit and attended some events.
Hopefully a lot more experiences are on their way here through CS :)
Interests
I would say that I am not a person with one strong passion, but rather find some interest in many things, almost anything actually :)
I have a background in engineering and I enjoy technology, but more importantly I want to work on creating a more sustainable world, through technology. So I am very interested in all things related to sustainability.
For my past time I especially enjoy cooking and listening to music.

Music, Movies, and Books
Generally interested i things that are slightly alternative.
I especially love singer-songwriter, folk style of music (e.g. Tallest Man on Earth, Ryan Adams, Bob Dylan).
For movies I mostly enjoy the ones that make me think and reflect. I can mention "A Single Man", "Revolutionary Road", "Manchester by the sea" as some of my favourites. I love a good documentary that twists my mind or just explores a topic that I don't have much knowledge about beforehand.
I mostly read non-fiction stuff related to my profession and on politics and development.
I really do just enjoy many different things depending on my mood :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Quite a few things! I'll have to think to come up with the best ones :)
But I lived one year in Australia as a teenager, which still counts as one the best memories I've had so far.
Teach, Learn, Share
Since I love food and cooking I would also be happy to teach what I know and take on any tips from people who can share. Getting to know local food and drinks are one of my favourite things.
I really want to get my knowledge about gardening and farming since I'm interested in growing local foods. But so far I'm not very good at it, so I would live to learn more.
I'm happy to share my knowledge on renewable energy, environmental issues and related topics. For me it's more than just my profession so I love to bring it forward however I can.
In the rare case you are interested in knowing about Scandinavian language, culture, history, politics, I would say that I know quite a few things.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Being pretty hassle free, clean and flexible for your needs. I'm happy to help out with practical stuff or socialise when it fits, but am also totally capable of taking care of myself when that is needed :)
