About Me

CURRENT MISSION

cottage industry is now more than ever poised to dig it's roots into the crumbling walls of bloated big business. I am creating a new paradigm for sustainable living and business in a time of turmoil.

ABOUT ME

really lucky lady. i work hard, live my progressive values, dream big, live big in my energy and small in my energy consumption. try always to contribute to life, not suck it. this means I love my community on all scales and show it by making dishes, being an empathic listener, and generous with my cooking and time in general.

PHILOSOPHY

I feel a sense of duty to culture- I've been given many gifts and I feel a great need to be of service. I make pots for the people, everything about functional pottery speaks of who I am: supporting, solid, trying to be integrated in my presentation of beauty without being obtrusive. I tend to be generous and devoted, for what are material things worth, really? only the love with which you make them. so I give them away.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

just signed up, but plan on hosting those intrepid enough to sleep on the floor of a clay studio. otherwise, made a contribution... great project! exactly what I was looking for...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

usually through friend connections- my fave took me to the circus, another found me at a monastery. both were excellent.
recently, in Japan, I met great people through cs, had long conversations, learned about myself, learned about their culture, attended a great party, made a real friend. perfect!

Interests

material craft, performance/ ephemoral/ conceptual art, dirty street art, intelligent discussion of cultural wackiness, eco-ethics, eating, personal growth, dancing to breaks, spiritual growth from unusual directions, chaos in general.

Music, Movies, and Books

mostly, all i have time for is the new yorker. that covers a lot of bases. democracy now, huffington post, podcasts. love murakami. music includes lots of breakbeat for dancing, old punk like sonic youth ,fugazi, primus, love tricky, morphine, odd stuff like tom waits, fsa and third eye foundation, love brazilian, and a little soft stuff like billie holliday. movies I like tend to be complicated like menomena, or usual suspects, dark like pi, and beautiful like scent of green papaya.
authors i have loved - mccarthy, dillard, heinlein, twain, grass, oliver, dylan

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

there have been so many- - ah, living in the woods in MN for so many years, tending a garden and building a sauna. scuba diving with manta rays all the way to hang-gliding in the desert.

Teach, Learn, Share

**very interested in creating an urban ceramics residency in a sustainably-maintained series of buildings**
I've been to college before I was completely engaged with it. school is a mirror, certainly, but i think the school of life presents more mirrors of greater variety and hues. but important too not to flit from one shallow experience to the next- must really dive in. once you've found your star, then go to advanced school, and you'll be ready to kick ass.
