About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Writing a book on USA National Energy Policy and remodeling a house and Garden.

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in California but also lived in Germany and England while growing up (5 years).

I've studied some of the Eastern Philosophies and they have had a large impact on my life. They stress accepting life as it is. To not be judgmental about every little aspect of our lives. To just take it all in as part of the whole experience that is our lives. The unpleasant is as important, if not more so, than the pleasant. That by judging we separate ourselves from the experience which is something we should strive not to do. So, I try and live in the moment and take life as it comes.

A quote by John Ruskin describes in large part how I try and approach Life. "Go to Nature... rejecting nothing, selecting nothing, scorning nothing." He was speaking to the the Pre-Raphaelite artists of his time In how they should approach their art. But it works just as well as an approach to all experience and how we choose to live our lives. The pleasurable as well as the painful. The Beautiful as well as the Ugly. It's all equally valid information that Illuminates and deepens our understanding of the world around us. The more we filter life through our expectations or desires the more distant we become from the World and that is what we should avoid at all times.

What else? Well I was told recently that i was acting like a 4 year old(in a good way!). But I honestly don't think a 4 year old is tall enough to slide down the banisters in the London Underground. I think you would have to be at least 7-8 to do that. So I'm not a 4 year old! Keeping that inner child alive is a Huge part of me. I know what work is and can do my share but it's So important to keep that child alive in ourselves. Otherwise life becomes dry and brittle. What's the fun if it's no longer an adventure?

More? Well I'm a: Science nerd, cook, gardner, Interior designer, Carpenter, Lover of Neo-Classical Art, Hiker, Kayaker, Jazz lover, Housing Rehabilitator, Transhumanist, Artist, explorer, AND so much more.

PHILOSOPHY

"Work to Become not to Acquire". AND "There Is No Love, Only Proof of Love". Lots of other pithy but true sayings. The questions are far more improtant than the answers. Keep asking WHY, both of the outer world and the inner one. Knowing who you are and being comfortable with that person is more valuable than any amount of gold.
