CURRENT MISSION
To see all that I can and not to waste a single moment, that is all that I ask for.
ABOUT ME
Hi!
My name is Adam Rosenberg, when I joined CS I was a 22 year old college student about to graduate and embark on a five week journey across the United States and up into Alaska before beginning my professional career as a Packing Engineer. Well, the trip was fantastic and partially thanks to CS! Now I'm working and on the other side of CS, as I have an empty couch waiting for you!
I live in SLC, UT with my significant other, Marlie, and our Pug, Olive. We moved here in July of 2012 and while we are both new to the the inter mountain west, we absolutely love it. We both grew up in Pittsburgh, PA (Go Steelers!) and lived on the east coast for the majority of our lives, but we are quickly adopting the "west coast attitude"!
I think it's a good idea to know who you are surfing with, and I like when people do this; when you are requesting to surf with me(us) please include your favorite color in your couch surfing request.
We both ski and ride bikes and if you have a bike bring it! We love cruising around the city, I really think it's the best way to explore any city, but I'm a little biased. My biggest hobby is cycling. I love bikes! I've been cycling for a long time, mountain/road, whatever. I worked many years as a bike mechanic as well, and I'll let you in on a little secret: if your travelling by bike and crashing with us it would be good to know I'm easily persuaded into working on bikes!
Other reason you may be travelling to SLC: If your coming to ski, we live about 30 minutes from all the resorts in Park City, and Little and Big Cottonwood Canyons (Alta, Brighton, Etc). I don't know much about the public transportation to the resorts but we are close enough that you could walk to a UTRAX (SLC's local public transportation) stops in a couple of minutes - which should get you started on your way there. We also do a little climbing, I wouldn't make for much a climbing tour guide, but I can belay lead and would be happy to join you on any climbing adventure! Hiking on the other hand we could shed some light on. We've been exploring quite a bit of the local hiking in the surrounding canyons and would be happy to share info, books, and experiences with you. We could probably even be easily persuaded into hiking with you!
Food! We love food, we love to eat and cook (and drink)! Marlie is a great cook and I like to think I get lucky once in a while too! We aren't vegan, poultratarian, pescetarian, solely organic, or anything else that would restrict our culinary curiosity. We try to be generally healthy and take no issue with your diet of choice and will try to accommodate you however we can. When staying with us we are happy to go out and try new restaurants, take you to some of our favorites or cook a homemade meal! And it's not true what they say about drinking in UT, there are some great bars, and breweries too!
Generally we are very flexible people and would be happy to host and do what we can! Drop us a line if youâ

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I drove from Rochester NY to NM, up into CO and UT and down to So. Cal. From there we drove north to the Canadian border and up in to Vancouver and The Yukon and Finally into Alaska. We drove as far north as we could and got on a plane in Fairbanks which flew us to point barrow, where we then took a monster truck (not really, but it was a big tuck) out to the Arctic Sea, got out on the point and stood on THE most norther point of the U.S.A. There were too many 'moments I was left awestruck' on that trip to list...
Teach, Learn, Share
Couchsurfing is amazing and there are a few reason I've grown to think this way. The people I've met through CS have all been "cut from a similar cloth" and there are values, sometimes boldly portrayed and other times hiding, that I think (certainly hope) that we all share:
Be open minded: It's amazing when sharing stories and discussing life the different opinions people can have. I recently read a quote I liked, "There is no such thing as truth, only perspective." It can be hard at time to be open minded but it's always worth it in the long run.
Selflessly Considerate: Whether your hosting or surfing it's important to be considerate of the other person(s). Making little scarifies to accommodate your couch surfer, or your gracious host tend to go a long way!
Smiling: Smile it will make you feel better.
