About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live fully

ABOUT ME

The best way to sum it up is I'm a really young and really old soul with a little in between. I'll watch Spongebob and I'll read feminist theory, laugh at childish shit and cook a dinner for loved ones. I think most people notice the old soul first, but I'm definitely not even near 100% old yet (and maybe never will be).

I travelled around Europe and SE Asia a bit as a kid, but that doesn't really count, which is why I'm here.

Also, I really like this quote in its many variations:
"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."

PHILOSOPHY

I just try to do what honestly feels right. You can't really do right by others without first caring for yourself, or so I think.

Interests

Food, reading, race/gender/sex/sexuality, environmental sustainability, hip-hop, psychology (when it's not creepy).

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Sam Cooke, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Tupac, Killer Mike, Donnis Trio, Fleet Foxes, Fugees, Brother Ali, Gang Starr, Lee Fields. Mostly soul/R&B and hip-hop, a little do everything else.

Movies: Twelve Monkeys, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, anything Studio Ghibli. these are hard for me to remember.

Books: Sirens of Titan, A Personal Matter, Player Piano, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Kafka on the Shore, Go Tell It on the Mountain, A Drifting Life, Push-Man and Other Stories, Abandon the Old in Tokyo, The Changeling, Timequake, Welcome to the Monkey House, Saga (the comics series), Wuthering Heights, Brave New World

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So far? It's not any cool place I've been, but just learning to really feel alive and connected with my experience. Yeah, it can sound like a New Age cliche (not that I'm against New Age-y things, per se), but it's pretty nice.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some amount of cooking, can help you mostly eliminate plastic from your life, could teach a beginner's level of b-bboying ("breakdancing")...

Teach me some woodworking, to cook interesting food, to rock climb, to swim better, anything.

Countries I’ve Visited

India, Iran, Thailand

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
