About Me
CURRENT MISSION
See the world! Meet as many people as possible! Drink good drinks! Eat good food!
ABOUT ME
I am 22 and just graduated from the University of Michigan -- Go Blue! (Obviously) I love traveling and meeting new people. I don't quite get the sole interest in seeing landmarks that so many people have. Yes, I would love to stand under the Eiffel Tower or roam through the Louvre, but if the opportunity presents itself to meet some really great people what a better way to get to know a country! In return for hosting me, I would LOVE to buy you a pint (or whatever drink of your choice) and get to know you! I love trying new beers and new wines. My interests include photography (though I've always wanted to learn more), dance (jazz, tap, ballet, swing, latin, etc.), music (especially live), and just about any movie I can get my hands on. Basically, I dabble in a bit of everything and would love to know what interests you. ;-)
Juan is 23 and graduated a year ago from Michigan with a degree in classical clarinet performance. He also plays sax in an awesome funk band called Manwich and Potato Salad (he's the leader of the salad bunch). Currently, he is a chef at a Pan Asian restaraunt (it's awesome!) and loves to cook for whoever, whenever, under all forms of intoxication (he's dictating, but really we order a lot of pizza when we're drunk...). Juan (and Eileen) LOVE trying new foods as well. Juan's interests include jam sessions, cooking sessions, and Jim Beam bourbon. He's basically a jack of all trades, and if international flight laws allowed we would bring you some of our home brewed beer but they don't =(.
We both enjoy sports (especially basketball for Eileen and soccer/football for Juan), the arts, live music, and relaxing with some drinks and friends on a beautiful day! One of our favorite summertime Ann Arbor activities is Cabrewing -- basically we combine canoeing on the beautiful Huron River with alcohol, lots of alcohol! =)
PHILOSOPHY
Eat, drink and be merry!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Excited to start participating in CS! Will be moving to Washington, DC to begin working in August 2011 and will hopefully have roommates open to accepting couch surfers! For now, I'd love to meet you for some food, drinks, or just to hang out. Ann Arbor is beautiful in the summer!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Juan and I are both new to CouchSurfing officially, but have put up many friends from around the country and Michigan while at school! Even from our team's rival Michigan State University!
Interests
We both love good food, good wine, good beer, good music, good laughs, and most importantly good people! Juan studied classical music and is now cooking in a fine dining Pan-Asian restaurant. I studied Sociology and English.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite authors are Salman Rushdie, Vonnegut, Faulkner (though I'm just now making my way through his works). I love e.e. cummings and just about any poetry I can get my hands on! I once took a James Joyce class and read Ulysses in a single day (well, really it took something like 26 hours...) out loud with several other classmates. Juan's favorite authors are Shel Silverstein and Michael Crichton.
Music: anything but country! But really, I like a bit of everything as does Juan. Rap, hip hop, rock, indie, even bluegrass and classical, we'll listen to it all!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Traveled to South Africa with some classmates and participated in President Zuma's inauguration in Pretoria with some great friends we met along the way! Even got to see Nelson Mandela! See photo =).
Teach, Learn, Share
Want to learn the ins and outs of photography. Bought myself a new camera for my travels and excited to start snapping on something more than a point and shoot!
We'd love to learn the local cuisine.
