Overview
About Me
Hi! I'm Einar, a 34 year old Spatial Planning student and simultaneously working as a customer service agent. I was born and raised in Groningen, in the north of the Netherlands, and normally still live there as well. However, I am currently hailing from Kyoto, Japan, because I'm doing an exchange semester here until February 2024.
My friends would describe me as a friendly, relaxed and openminded guy. In my freetime I like to play football (soccer), hang out with friends, watch movies, play the piano, read, and occassionally go out.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on couchsurfing because I have made some travels throughout the years and have found out that, to me at least, the most genuine way to experience a country (its people, culture, and everyday life) is to talk and stay with the locals. Getting to know them, learning about their experiences and perceptions is to me probably the most valuable aspect of traveling/discovering the world we live in.

Music, Movies, and Books
All kinds of music, from funk to rock, from hip hop to classical.
Pretty fanatic cinephile. Mainly a watcher of the mainstream movies, but am discovering arthouse and alternative filmmaking more and more.
Books-wise, it has been pretty quiet for the last 5-10 years, but I'm currently getting into it again. Recent books include: Dune book 1 and 2, Im Western Nichts Neues, 1984, the Kiterunner.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lived in South Korea for 2,5 years
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you Dutch and would love to learn (some of) your language in return
What I Can Share with Hosts
An enthusiastic and curious personality with a genuine interest in you, your philosophies, and (your) life on your side of the globe. Excited to discover the life of the host and his environment, and ready to immerse myself in and embrace the local practices, foods, customs, etc.
Other than this I can share stories of previous travels, thoughts and ideas about the world, a game of chess, and tips with regard to the (relatively limited) Dutch kitchen/foods/snacks.
