About Me

I am a native Austinite who craves adventure and knowledge. Any given night you'll find me doing one of the following: seeing some live music, having dinner/drinks with friends, watching my favorite shows (or a movie I've been meaning to watch for a while), reading a book, surfing the internet, or doing homework. I'm currently a college student (again). First time around I got an Associate of Applied Science degree in photography, and now I'm working on a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The list of places I want to go is pretty dang long, and my bank account has seen better days. Also, meeting new people is fun!

Interests

I love music, photography, books, tv/movies, good food, and good conversation. Oh, and traveling of course.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I like a wide variety of music, but mostly I listen to indie rock/pop/electronic stuff. Here lately I've been enjoying Father John Misty, Alabama Shakes, Sufjan Stevens, Joywave, Sylvan Esso, Walk The Moon, Chet Faker, Bear's Den, K.Flay, Purity Ring, My Brightest Diamond, The Early November, Brandi Carlile, Broods, Copeland, Banks, SOHN, Robert Ellis, Kristin Diable, and St. Vincent. Dashboard Confessional, Coldplay, Jimmy Eat World, and Anberlin will never get old.

Movies: Emma (based on the Jane Austen novel) is my all time favorite movie. I also love High Fidelity, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (seriously), Groundhog Day, Juno, Away We Go, The Matrix, You've Got Mail, Mean Girls, Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Trek (TNG and J.J. Abrams' reboot), Mother (with Albert Brooks and Debbie Reynolds), Under The Tuscan Sun, Mystery Men, Love Actually, Twister, Chocolat, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Happy Gilmore, O Brother Where Art Thou?, and Pride and Prejudice, among many others.

Books: I am currently reading "No god but God" by Reza Aslan and it's excellent. Some of my favorite books are Pride & Prejudice, Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Hunger Games, The Shack by William Paul Young, Jane Eyre, Let's Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson, Yes Please by Amy Poehler, Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, When I Stop Talking You'll Know I'm Dead by Jerry Weintraub, Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling, Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell, and Daring Greatly by Brené Brown.

Also I'm going to add TV as a category here because, not gonna lie, I love TV. My current favorites are Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Orphan Black, Doctor Who, Elementary, Downton Abbey, The Daily Show, The Big Bang Theory, The Mindy Project, and Orange Is The New Black. My all time favorites (RIP) are Star Trek (TNG, DS9, Voyager), Battlestar Galactica, Parks and Recreation, and Fringe.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kayaking in La Jolla cove. I was terrified of tipping over, but I never did! I got to go inside one of the caves, and I saw a ton of leopard sharks right below me in the crystal clear water. I would do it again.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can (probably) teach you something about photography.

I want to learn your story.

Let's share a pepperoni pizza.
