Why I’m on Couchsurfing

• | HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING | • I was introduced to CS by a good friend of mine-- Daniela (Barros). So, even before I signed up I had already been tapped by her as somewhat of a local ambassador to Los Angeles. She called me one day inviting me to hang out with her as she was 'hosting' someone from out of town. Needless to say I was quite intrigued by the whole concept. It eventually lead me to the realization that something my friends and I do, or friends of friends through 'recommendations' when we visit one another actually has more of a diverse global presence. I was hooked which lead me to create my own page on CS. • | COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE | • Danie and I traveled to Brazil (Sao Paolo/ Rio) back in August of '09 where we both had our first Couch Surfing experience. We were hosted by Tiago from Niteroi. Prior to this, my CS experience consisted of staying over at friends or friends-of-friends pads when visiting them whether in Australia, New Zealand, Toronto, NYC, Washington, DC, Charlotte, Atlanta, Savannah, Las Vegas, and San Francisco. However, couch surfing is not limited to when I travel. Here in L.A., I mostly couch surf at Danie and her roommate's couch, for a spot after a night out partying when needed. Heheh! =D

Selecting or employing individual elements from a variety of sources, systems, or styles: an eclectic taste in music. • | B O O K S | • I read different kinds of books, but my favorite readings are sci-fi/fantasy i.e. Tolkien, Raymond Feist, George Martin and Robert Jordan's 'Wheel of Time' series. I also follow the works of Stephenie Meyer, Sherrylin Kenyon, Cassandra Clare, Suzanne Collins and Rick Riordan's 'Kane and Olympian' series. I am also a huge Anne Rice fan. However, my all time fav is still 'The Giving Tree' by Shel Silverstein.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently, one the most amazing things I have EXPERIENCED was witnessing newly hatched loggerhead sea turtles crawling to make their way to the ocean during our last night dining in Tulum, Mexico. It was truly an unforgettable night. : : One of the most amazing things I have ever DONE to date was obtaining my graduate level degree. Why? It was never in my plans to pursue it. The decision to do so was impulsive and yet logical at the same time for the long run.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've learned that people touch you in certain ways that can be so life changing and beneficial if you allow it. I think that even though it doesn’t always work out, that doesn’t mean that that person did not touch you in a way that no one else ever will. A lot of times, it is what we learn and what we make of a situation that we, in fact learn from it. I am a student of life and the experiences derived from it. In the time that I have spent on this rock we call earth, I have learned that family does not necessarily have to be by blood. • | S H A R I N G | • CS'ers visiting the US especially here in the West Coast, if your host(s) do not provide them, toiletry essentials (i.e.: shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, deodorant, lotion, etc.) are available in TRAVEL SIZES good for a week-or-two in any grocery or drug stores throughout the US-- I would think, at least they are here in California. I noticed that most visitors who come for more than a week bring the household sized items with them. Keep this in mind so you can avoid additional weight on your backpacks.
