Hello/ Hola/ Namaste!

My name is Valeria and I originally come from Russia.

When I turned 17 I left my home and went out to live, work and study abroad. It was such an intense and great time to be living in England, Spain and then Australia, let me tell sometimes I was wondering why I chose such a challenging way of living.

It is difficult to describe myself, but What I do know is that it is a great part of my life to be working with myself, people and the environment around to create harmony.

I spent many years doing art : studied art history in England and film in Australia. Meanwhile, I was arranging different art expos both in Russia and Australia, which were mainly focused on photography. For the past couple of years I have been working on a few short documentaries. You can check out my website to see what I was doing and it can actually reflect a lot about my personality and views on life.

I fully believe in oneness in our life, ad I equally share my interests between these few areas : health and traditional medicine, sustainable living, animal welfare, and mental health. I was very privileged to have grown up in a beautiful countryside with huge fields of corn and a river close to my house, so i truly understand how important that is for every child, who will be an adult one day.

Also, I love music and singing, and one of the reasons I am travelling is to meet new musicians and make music together. That is a very important mission!

Couchsurfing is an amazing project, which really works when you understand what it's all about. I noticed unfortunately that this website is becoming much more commercial than it used to be and it's much easier now to receive "vouches" and references, which is a bit of a put off. If you read until this point and want to send me a CS request, please bare in mind that I still support the good old real way of being a hospitable host and as well a respectful guest.

Recently we had a unique opportunity to visit Australasian World Music Expo, which opened to us new fascinating band called LINDIGO (Reunion Island). These guys just made my day!

Books:

I love teachings of Chogyam Trungpa, lately I had to read almost only literature on Tibetan Medicine and wow it is actually taking all my free time. Of course I love Russian literature, Chekhov's and Gogol's works being my favourite.
