About Me
READ THIS BEFORE SENDING A REQUEST:
1) I host ONLY people who are registered on CS. If your friend/partner/relative wants to surf with you at my couch they should have a profile on CS, so include a link to them in the request. I ask this solely for the reason of helping expand and grow the CS community.
2) SEND A COUCHREQUEST, NOT A MESSAGE (press the "Send request" button). It is the whole purpose of the existence of the CouchSearch tool.
3) CouchSurfing is NOT a website to look only for a free place to sleep. So:
- fill in your profile and personal info
- make a little more effort than just writing a sentence saying where you are from and when you are coming.
Oh, and at least mentioning my name in the request would be nice.
____________________________________________
Well, if you haven't been scared off yet by the rant above (sorry for that, I am just tired of all the generic copy-paste I've seen around here over the years), then here goes the actual info:
Quick facts about me:
1) I have never lived in one country for more than 4 years in a row. I love this lifestyle and plan to continue following it.
2) I prefer to make on the spot decisions. They lead to the greatest experiences.
3) Always say yes.
4) A bit of a party animal, but aging is slowly taking its toll, unfortunately =\
Also, I am Russian and that means:"Russians are a nation inhabiting territory of Russia an ex-USSR countries. Russians enjoy drinking vodka and listening to the bears playing button-accordions. Russians are open- and warm- hearted. They are ready to share their last prianik (russian sweet cookie) with guests, in case lasts encounter that somewhere. Though, it's almost unreal, 'cos russians usually hide their stuff well."(c) urbandictionary
" - You boys going to get somewhere, or just going?
We didn't understand his question, though it was a damned good question."
- Jack Kerouac
“It has been my experience that folks who have no vices have very few virtues.”
– Abraham Lincoln
"Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I give people judgemental looks if they say they haven't heard of CS and thus spread the good word.
Surfed and hosted over 100 times, full list at the end of the page.
Interests
Balalaika playing, bear hunting, matreshka painting, vodka drinking - you know, the regular Russian stuff.
In reality, my interests are not as exciting as the mentioned above, but here are a few:
Business development
Tech, fintech and all that start up jazz
Cultural differences
Talking to strangers
Travelling around (duh)
Pub crawls
Music with a reason
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies - No country for old men, Into the Wild, Trainspotting, Harold and Kumar
books - "Generation P" by Pelevin
music - lately mostly a diverse range of electronic and hip hop tunes, but may vary from oldschool rock to dancy pop depending on the mood.
Also, if you know and love Caribou, Jamie XX, Royksopp - we will get along very well, trust me!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Being bitten by a lion... thankfully, it was only a cub!
Hitch-hiked from Rome to Budapest (over 1250 kms) in a day. Insanely lucky!
Cooked shashlik (kind of shish kebab) for 80 people in one evening. Yummy AND noone died after (I hope).
Once I was hitch-hiking from Madrid to Barcelona. I got more than half-way through and decided to catch a bus for the rest of the journey as it was getting pretty late. I got the ticket, hopped on a bus and only after 10 mins through the journey I realised that this bus was in fact going back to Madrid! (the bus driver even checked my ticket before I got in but didn't pay attnetion to the destination written on it)
I have done quite a number of things in my life but nothing as amazingly foolish as this.
Also, I hitch-hiked with a smuggler once.
However, I feel that the the most amazing experiences in my life were related to all the fantastic moments I had with my surfers and host from CouchSurfing, so below comes a list of all the great people I had the pleasure of meeting thanks to this network.
