About Me

CURRENT MISSION
*Get back to my drawings
*Have some fun on the trapeze, possibly achieving a less desperate expression when hanging upside down and reducing the amount of bruises and scratches now that summer is coming.
*Learn some Spanish so I can have awesome chit-chat this summer in Cantabria, yeehhhh!

ABOUT ME
I am Gaia!
I am a conservation scientist and I finished my PhD a couple of years ago. Last year I worked in Berlin analyzing cool ancient stuff, now I am back at my old University. The idea is to keep having coloured ancient stuff around and possibly travelling.
And then... who knows! Next year will bring a lot surprises, that's sure!

I am quite extrovert but I can be a bit shy at first, I just need the right ambience :) I love listening to your adventures, visiting new places and know about their hidden places and stories. If I am in good mood (and also when I am not) I love cooking cakes and biscuits. And eat them, obviously, possibly while sipping a nice cup of tea and reading a book.

I used not to like beer. In Belgium I discovered the kriek ones, which got me a lot of kiddings about 'unserious beer drinking'. In Berlin, thanks to the loving efforts and huge commitment of an Ungarian friend, it came out that I like dark beers, stout and porter and similar. I very recently tried a couple of white beers, and really enjoyed them. So, I've got no clue about how my beer taste works!

PHILOSOPHY
Just let everything begin with a smile.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet people from other countries and with different cultures. I find it extremely inspiring!
And CS really is a nice way to put people in contact, whether you are hosting or surfing. It is all about sharing!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have both hosted and surfed, and participated to some events in Turin.
All nice experiences!
I received Mexican sweets and Turkish Ozo.
I was told adventurous and incredible stories about people dancing across Europe and walking between trees.
All of this while sitting on the window all the night long, or around a table, forgetting to eat the food in my plate.

Interests

Reading loads of books, drawing things on other things, and singing while riding my bike.
Cooking cakes and biscuits, rice with spices...discovering .
Walking in the deep deep wood and under the street lamps...
I love to hug my doggy when she's not wet (!) and softly blow on my sister's dog nose... He begins scratching his muzzle in a very hilarious way!

New cultures, new colors, new languages, new food new people.
Feeling home everywhere.

Music, Movies, and Books

Reading books. Under a tree, on a cliff, in the middle of a wood. Immerse your mind in the pages during a long train travel, then rise your eyes and look at everything in a different way.
I have a thing for illustrated books for children. And graphic novels.
Tales and art, simply awesome.

I love music but I'm totally useless with names. My boyfriend still can't explain my special glitch. Anyway, I adore Yann Tiersen and Amèlie, Arctic Monkies, Emiliana Torrini, Kings of Convenience, classic stuff with piano and violins and all that orchestra wuush, Ennio Morricone, The Last Shadow Puppets, Tribalistas, Beto Villares, Vinicio Capossela. And I love Agua de março sang by Tom&Elis. And Fela Kuti, Just a band, Ibibio Sound Machine, Jack Johnson, The Killers, The chordettes.

Films. Love watching them under the blankets. On the couch. While cooking a cake (ahhhh, there is chocolate on the laptop!!). I like amusing and sensitive movies. I range from engaged movies, to adventure, noir and fantasy and scifi. I do like nerd citations, thought I definitely am not nerd enough to understand all of them :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Oh, the point is, I think that some normal everyday things are amazing...
This would make the list far too long.
Trapeze trapeze trapeze!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always keen to learn something new!

I could teach how to cook some Italian recipes :)
And I can share the corners I love in my city, its paces and rithms, its colours and markets, the art all inside and the green all around...where to dance till the sunrise and where to find delicious athai bi'nnana in Porta Palazzo...
Little city with a big world inside!
