Overview
About Me
Born and raised in South Africa. I moved to London when I was 18 and got caught in it's whirlwind. I lived there for 14 years and experienced much of the European culture.
At the age of 32, I decided it was time for a change and so packed my bags and went on an adventure through Central America .... and got hooked. 3 years later and my adventures continue
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
i hear really great things about peoples experiences through couch surfing. I think its an exciting way to meet and connect with like minded people in their town and homes. Also, i think its a great way to gain a deeper & more realistic understanding of how people live and exist in that place.
Interests
So my intention before going on this adventure was to expand my horizons and find out what I was really into. I think that deep down there is always a knowing of what you are connected to and what you should be doing with your life.
So far I have been very fortunate in finding some of my outer purposes. I met a silver smith teacher who was just incredible and shared her skills with me. I took to it like a fish to water, as if I had done it before in a past life. I now use this to support myself and my travels. I then learnt about indigo dyeing and have recently started to make and sell sarongs and blankets on the beaches.
I started surfing about 2 years ago - however unlike silversmithing, I did not adapt to this like a fish to water. But I love it and its challenges and try to go out into the water at least once a day.
I practice yoga and meditation, spend as much time as i can in my hammock, and of course as much time as possible with my beautiful friends and family.
Music, Movies, and Books
I am a lover of all types of music, especially chilled beats and drums.
I don't watch much TV but do love a good book. Some that come to mind are The Alchemist, in fact I love all of Paulo Coelho's work. Eckhart Tolle, Chimamandi Ngozi Adichi, the Nigerian author of Half a Yellow sun and Purple Hibiscus. Khaled Hosseini's A thousand splendid Suns and the Kite Runner
