About Me

Growing up on a farm in central Iowa, my parents always encouraged their 8 children to travel the world. After college I became a flight attendant for Delta Air lines (where I met my (pilot) husband.
After raising our 2 children & sharing with them the joys of adventure travel, they left home & we continued adventures on our own.
I've backpacked through Peru (Machu Picchu), Ecuador, Italy, Croatia & Slovenia. Along the way we stayed in Hostels & private homes, learning about customs & cultures as we went.
Several years ago my husband & I decided we were ready to make a drastic change & leave our home in the North Georgia Mountains. We wanted to discover an area for our retirement years that offered all the qualities we enjoyed most.
In preparation for this move we first wanted to explore more of our own country & spend time in places we've always wanted to visit.
We bought an RV & spent months at a time traveling, first the Pacific Northwest (up into Banff & Vancouver), then down the Oregon Coast (San Juan Islands), through Zion, Bryce & Canyonlands National Parks.
The following year we traveled for 4 months up the Eastern Coast, into Nova Scotia before heading back through the Badlands of South Dakota.
After all of this we found our "forever" home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It offers everything we wanted & will keep us busy exploring this amazing state for years.
Our home offers views of 4 different mountain ranges. From here, there are literally hundreds of hikes, each with outstanding views of some of the most beautiful scenery we've ever seen.
We're within a 15 min. drive of the historical Santa Fe Plaza, dating back to the early 1600's.
On Saturday's we explore one of the best Farmer's Market in the country, afterwards we might have lunch at one of Santa Fe's 200 restaurants.... and the list goes on & on!
We would love to share our new home with other, like minded explorers who are respectful of the environment we live in.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My daughter, Meggan Kaiser, has been couch surfing & hosting for years. I've always wished I had traveled more when I was younger so I was able to live vicariously through her stories.
Recently Meggan had offered to host 3 couchsurfers while she was house sitting at our home in Santa Fe.
Unfortunately, she was unable to be here so she asked if I'd be interested... the rest is history! My experience was amazing & I'm now looking forward to hosting more adventurers who want to experience the amazing area in New Mexico I call home!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm section hiking the Appalachian Trail... each year I go out for 9 to 10 days.

Teach, Learn, Share

I feel we're always learning from each other & our experiences. Keeping an open mind allows us to grow. Travel "stretches" us because we sometimes find ourselves in situations outside our comfort zones. At the same time, it allows us to experience the extreme highs & lows that make it all so worthwhile.
By hosting, I hope to facilitate travel while also learning from others.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Aruba, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Ecuador, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Peru, Puerto Rico, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City State, Viet Nam
