About Me

I love to travel since I was young as my family has travel widely and it had made a great influence on me. I also like to learn more about the world and love socialising with people from all around the world. I do not drink (I am allergy to it), smoke or have any bad habits. Since I am a nutritionist by profession, I love to eat healthily and I enjoy sports as i used to be an athlete. I also like the great outdoors sports (hiking, scuba-diving, snowboarding, biking) and nature (beach, mountains, sea) and enjoy trying out various food cuisines. I previously studied in Singapore when I was 7 - 14 years old while also living in Malaysia, Sabah till I was 14 years old, then migrated to Australia. I came back to work in Singapore when I was around 26 till current but I planned to retire back in Australia.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am curious about this experience as I travelled quite a bit but this is something new to me. I want to like to use this opportunity to meet more people and visit more places with my limited budget. It is interesting to learn about the customs, culture, lifestyle and develop more friendships globally. It makes life more interesting and meaningful than my usual experience of volunteering overseas (India) and staying in motels, airbnb and hotels. Another major reason is that i do not like to travel alone. I enjoy having companionship to do things I enjoy. I have been looking for someone to travel for a long time but it is often difficult to find a person who has the same time, opportunity and budget to travel so I am going to travel to a lot of places solo by myself. I hope that this experience can give me more opportunity to make more friends around the globe.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I am a fan of Mandarin songs sang by - Mayday, R chord, Jay Chou, Eric Chou, JJ Lin. For Western songs- Nelly, Taylor Swift, Megan Trainor etc.

I am crazy about movies - watch a lot of drama (Thai, Korean, Japan, Hongkong, China) from young and I like various genres - horror, war, romance, action, and comedy.

Books - all novels by Agatha Christie and Sidney Sheldon. Any educational/inspirational books (Rich dad, poor dad) by Robert Kiyoski, Men in Mars and Women in Venus etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Volunteered in India for 4 years and gathered a team of nutritionists for a 'Nutrition for Malnourished Children in Bangalore' intervention, reached out to 1200 families and their neighbouring communities.
- published a book '1 rupee a day' to educate Indian communities on healthy eating
- presented my research findings at a public health conference in Sri Lanka.
- wrote and published 2 papers and presented an oral presentation in Singapore and poster presentation in Prague, Czech Republic.

I look forward to doing more of such philanthropy work using my knowledge of nutrition, health promotion, education and public health to help more underprivileged nations around the world.

WHEN TRAVELLING:
- Gaze up at the millions of stars amidst the midnight sky in total darkness while enjoying a hot spa in Bolivia, South America.
- Mountain- biking down on death road in Laz Paz, South America.
- Paragliding up in the mountains in Chile, South America.
- Reach the summit of Mount Kinabalu, Malaysia on a New Year eve and wrote a magazine article about it that got published.
