Overview
About Me
I'm a young vegetarian biologist with a very nomadic lifestyle, currently roaming western and northern Canada. I specialize in plant ecology :)
I finished my BSc in environmental science and ecology in Guelph, Ontario, and have spent the past five years travelling around Canada doing various fun field biology jobs. I'm extremely passionate about the environment and conservation, and spend most of my spare time out in the mountains going hiking, climbing, snowshoeing, etc. I just love to be outdoors experiencing all nature has to offer! Otherwise, I'm a very friendly and relaxed person, and quite adaptable - I'm happy hanging out with others but totally enjoy my own space as well and respect that in others. I always try to contribute in any way I can - cooking, cleaning, help with homework, etc.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
So far I've couchsurfed with a bunch of different wonderful hosts around the United States and Canada, and it's always been a wonderful experience. Everyone has been welcoming, helpful and friendly! I've had great luck with last-minute requests and truly appreciate the great community we have. I can't wait to meet more amazing people through couchsurfing, and share lots of great experiences with them :)
Interests
So much I could say here! I enjoy anything naturey and outdoorsy - hiking, camping, rock climbing, snowshoeing, photography, napping in the grass, birds, plants, world issues, reading, crafting, baking, dumpstering, art, etc etc etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One summer I volunteered for two months at a remote research station in the Queen Maude Gulf Migratory Bird Sanctuary in Nunavut helping out with various arctic wildlife research projects. Thirteen people, five cabins, 300km from the nearest civilization, no internet, no cell service, only one food drop at the beginning of the season, several grizzly bears, a few arctic fox dens, and about a million snow geese :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I can chat for days about Canadian ecosystems, plants, and conservation. I also have a handful of other potentially useful skills, such as rock climbing, mountaineering, backcountry hiking and camping, photography, general outdoorsiness, gardening, baking, and minimalism.
