Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To explore, love and live in the present moment.
ABOUT ME
Being civilized and thoughtful is important. But sometimes.. being spontaneous and real tops that!
PHILOSOPHY
Life's short. There's a need to develop my potential for love, happiness and wisdom through direct experience of the present moment and a deepening of awareness -- And then give all of that back to the world!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
A student once asked his guru, "how can I change the world?" The master replied, "by your very existence, you have already changed the world." We affect the world, positively or negatively, whoever we are.
I participate by offering who I am to who I meet.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Had sweet surfing experiences in Amsterdam, India, France and Taipei.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books
Non-Fiction: A variety. Mostly...
Positive psychology.
Mindfulness. Like Eckhart Tolle's The Power of Now, Jack Kornfield's The Path of Heart.
Biographies/Semi-biographies. Like Eat, Pray, Love. Shantaram. Jamie Zeppa's Beyond the Sky and the Earth: A Journey into Bhutan.
Ancient spiritual texts, like The Bhagavad Gita.
Fiction:
Works by Jhumpa Lahiri, like Unaccustomed Earth.
Gibran's and Rumi's poetry.
Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
Murakami (depending on my mood)
Funnies, like Aravin Adiga's The White Tiger, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, P.G. Wodehouse etc.
Movies:
Whatever that's thought-provoking, uplifting, humourous or interesting. Love independent film festivals like the Japanese , Israeli and Buddhist Film Fest. (No B-grade films involving giant man-eating mosquitoes or snakes, or Asian horror films please.)
Music:
Music my body responds to. Oftentimes it's electronica mixed with other genres, like drum-n-bass and soul. Also, pop jazz, bossa nova, samba, simple acoustic, indie, modern spiritual, Indian classical and progressive sounds that can mix any of the abovementioned.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spontaneously accepted an invitation to stay in a villager's home in a national park in India. Skydived in New York. Seen wild elephants in India, up close. Snowboarded on a glacier in the Norwegian fjords. Surfed in Bali and off the coast of Southern France. Dived in tropical waters. Did white-water rafting in Northern Thailand. Meditated deeply and fully. Did 10-day insight meditation retreats in Nepal and San Fransisco. Taught amazing, spirited, driven children. Experienced the most beautiful sunrise on Gili island, Bali..
And realized that 'amazing' lies in the heart and eyes of the beholder.
