About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Sharing a sense of wonder that comes only through traveling

ABOUT ME

I am full of wonder and I love to travel and meet new people. I come from a big family so I get along with people of all ages and I believe the best way to live life is with gratitude and laughter!

I am a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree. I hold majors in Philosophy and International Studies (emphasis in Latin American Culture and Society) and minors in Ethics and Spanish.

PHILOSOPHY

-"Gratitude is the foundation of happiness"
-"If you never have then you should, these things are fun and fun is good."- Dr. Seuss

In my short 22 years of life, I have found the best way to feel happiness is by moving out of one's comfort zone and trying new things. There is nothing I love more than taking a risks, no matter how intimidating it can initially be. I also believe in the 4 Agreements: "Be impeccable with your word, do not make assumptions, do not take anything personally, and always do your best." By keeping these principles in mind, I find it easier to live life with open arms and an open heart.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to the couchsurfing network and am excited to become a member in this wonderful and huge family of travelers and creative minds! I hope that one day I will be able to "pay it forward" and host couch surfers of my own.

Interests

I love the outdoors, especially hiking and biking. I also enjoy reading, taking pictures, exploring outdoor markets, and learning about other cultures. W!henever there's a chance, I love to hear live music and try new foods

Music, Movies, and Books

To read: Chuck Klosterman, Alexi Sherman, Don Miguel Ruiz, and Daniel Quin are my favorite authors and the Calvin & Hobbes comics will always hold a special place in my heart

To watch: BBC "Planet Earth" series and the Travel Channel

To listen: I love discovering new music, whether it be "folclorica" from Chile or country bluegrass from the South. Local Natives, Guster, Mumford & Sons, Of Monster and Men, Florence + the Machine, and more

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was the first female of the day to reach the top of Huaynapicchu, looking over Macchu Picchu in Aguas Calientes, Peru (Halloween morning 2012). It was my first time truly traveling solo, and an experience I will never forget.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have experience as a writing tutor and peer mentor, so I really love connecting with people via reading and writing. I also have experience with event planning and have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for 4+ years and have participated in multiple build trips. This summer I worked as a ropes/climbing/zipline instructor at a sleepaway camp in Maine.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Canada, Czech Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Peru, Poland, Switzerland, Thailand, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Chile, Spain, United States
