About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to learn, grow, and love.

ABOUT ME

I'm very passionate about people. I love new experiences and sharing myself with others (and getting shared with in return). One day soon, I hope to be in a position to help many people in my daily life. As of yet, I have had a hell of a time trying to decide how I would like to do that. I got into pharmacy school before deciding that it didn't appeal to me the way I want to be passionate about my career. I then worked for almost 2 years at Karmanos Cancer Institute before realizing research is probably not the way I'm going to accomplish my goal (at least not molecular research). UPdate 2015: I FINALLY GOT INTO MED SCHOOL! And now I'm doing a bit of traveling before i Start :).
My idealist side fights hard with my practical side, but I am hoping that I will soon find a middle ground that keeps me at peace with both sides so that I can propel myself forward in that direction.

PHILOSOPHY

be honest to who you are. and that is what will help you find cool people. take a little risk, get a little crazy. cuz gosh that shit is fun.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

helped planning detroit couch crash 2010 (ann arbor leg!), in doing so, met a lot of beautiful CSers in the detroit area, and some from afar. I can't do much hosting now, but when I move out to downtown Detroit, Id be happy to.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met a friend on a plane from Coachella (in CA) who was a couch surfer and visited me for Detroit Couch Crash - during DEMF... that was really lovely. a great fellow.
I surfed in Montreal, Canada, which was excellent and an experience I will always remember where my host and I stayed up for hours talking over a bottle of wine. I also hosted once at my parents house (limited because, you know, parents house, but I will be moving out in the fall!) which was a great CS experience for my family and everyone who met my guest as well as for myself :)

Interests

music. dance. chemistry. math. art. dancing (not like the pretty type of dance, the awkward grooving to music people do at bars. my favorite). Religion. Learning about myself. being thrifty. grocery shopping. rockband. cedar point. people. getting through all the layers to meet someone new.

Music, Movies, and Books

movies: everything except the dumb ones
I LOVE LIVE MUSIC
books: harry potters, hunger games, berenstein bears (I pretend like I'm reading them to my niece but I'm really just being nostalgic), 1984, the picture of dorian grey, Freedom - jonathan franzen

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

planet earth. i mean, seriously, there are rarely minutes of that series that i don't find amazing. i think i've watched jungles 10+ times.
ive been to taiwan, and the culture there was exceedingly different. one of the things that sticks out in my memory is my grandma's funeral i attended, where there was lots of chanting and burning of symbolic paper objects. there were also chickens running loose on the grounds.
Ive had a number of music festival experiences that have really opened me up. sometimes i take music and how it affects me for granted, and they are always one of those pleasant reminders. some of the people i was blessed to talk to breifly were the kindest people i've met. and what's not amazing about persons who are sincerely eager to share their friendliness?

Teach, Learn, Share

life is a struggle of balance, always. sometimes the questions "what makes me happy?" is the hardest question to answer because we're living a life of such high interconnectedness that we often spend all our time thinking about what we "need" to do, or what others "need" and it's easy to get away from the original question. this question can't always be the number one priority, but I find that if I can at least keep it in sight, I can lead a better life because of it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

myself. maybe some fun/weird science facts. some good jokes and a bottle of wine. a night of dancing (club or your living room, whatever)

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Mexico, Netherlands, Taiwan
