Overview
About Me
I live in NW Portland, Oregon, USA. I grew up in the Midwest USA, went to school at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, but fell in love with Oregon 5 years ago. I play piano and sing jazz. I am an avid traveler (4+ months per year), SCUBA certified and always searching for future travel buddies. I used to be a professional bread baker and I love to cook. In my opinion, compassion, generosity and bravery are the primary traits of the finest world travelers.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I used to travel to major hotels and resorts, but I haven't made the connections with local people the way I've wanted to.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was 13, I was on a tour of the San Juan Islands in Washington State with my family. Our boat came across an injured eagle in the water. The captain scooped the bird out of the water and called for a rescue boat to pick it up. He asked us, "Who's going to watch her while I steer the boat?" I volunteered. I unzipped my jacket and cradled the eagle in my arms. I have always loved interacting with non-human animals, and this is one of my fondest memories.
