HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm excited to become involved in the Couch Surfing community! Many of my friends have had positive and wonderful experiences that have inspired me to join.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My CS experience is limited, but I hope that will soon change. I co-hosted some lovely boys from Kansas City, MO last Christmas. We cooked an incredible vegetarian/vegan feast, spiced some cider, turned on music and spent the holiday in great company.

Interests

Talking to people about their life experiences; music and everything about it - the culture, the community, the creation; revitalizing my ability to play piano and upright bass; radio - especially public, community, alternative and grassroots radio and media organizations and collectives; film, food, being active, learning new things every day, dancing, singing loudly, hootenannies, walking/being a flâneur ("a person who walks the city in order to experience it"), riding bikes, riding tandem bikes, exploring, creating and adventuring.

Music, Movies, and Books

Film: David Lynch is my favorite director. I could talk about his films for hours. I also quite enjoy Woody Allen, Charlie Kaufman, the Coen Brothers, John Waters and Miranda July.

Music: is a an incredibly hard thing for me to list. I listen to any and all music that crosses my path, and am intrigued by interesting amalgamations of sound and emotion. American folk music is a huge interest of mine. I love classic soul, Motown, doo-wop and girl groups. I like bands who fall into the created genre of 'freak folk' but I just call it something I like to dance to.

Books: Kurt Vonnegut, "The Mysteries of Pittsburgh" by Michael Chabon, "The Sun Also Rises" by Hemingway, Haruki Murakami, graphic novels such as The Watchmen and Y: The Last Man.
