About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Survive South America, meet new people to leave the echo chamber

ABOUT ME

I'm 21, fairly naive, currently traveling in South America. Whenever I see a new fruit or vegetable I need to try it pretty much immediately, and haven't got sick yet.

PHILOSOPHY

Maybe everything doesn't happen for a reason - it's impossible to know - but it's better to look it life as if it does. I'm incredibly sceptical and/or realistic, and believe the most important things in life are to always see the positive side, to flourish, to look positively on others, to appreciate the small things and realise how much they matter, not to wish your life away by thinking too far into the future or the past.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I've only met others on my travels who couch surf. From now on, I am going to be trying to add people I meet to build up a profile! When I live in London, I will be able to host, and will be looking to surf in European cities for long weekends.

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

Book wise I love Phillip Pullman's Dark Materials, Louise Erdrich, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and next on my list to read is Kurt Vonnegut. I did my thesis on Melvin Burgess' Bloodtide and Bloodsong, which are postapocalytpic reworkings of the Volsunga Saga, touching on a huge range of postmodern issues including transhumanism and posthumanism.
My favourite movies are Fight Club, Billy Elliott, Trainspotting, Elysium, Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For me, seeing lava at the bottom of Telica in Nicaragua was absolutely incredible.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a swimming teacher. I am also an expert in making daisy chains and putting on false eyelashes.
