About Me
I, Iris, am living since 10 years in Hamburg, loving having people around me and with them or alone I enjoy chilly moments. I like it to move, to be and to work in nature. At the moment I’m on a bigger cycle trip with my partner Jannis and the dog Fredda.
I often do instead of thinking a lot about something and I also communicate my needs very clear and like it if people do so too. :) I am the one with the couchsurfing experience and I want to show Jannis and Fredda the beauty of this Plattform. :)
I’m Jannis and I was born in Hamburg. Now I’m living 30 years on this planet and I think this place is dirty but you can clean it up and chill. I like to do the cooking during our cycle trip and to learn how to cook with the local food. I learned preschool teaching and worked with families in special situations.
Our first bigger stop was Greece as Iris wanted to finish her studies by writing the final thesis of her biomedical engineering studies last winter. Currently we are in Turkye riding towards Georgia.
Basically we do not like any discriminating behavior, also towards nature.
Use the space for love instead!
Important Note: Our Lovely Companion Fredda, the “Berghutze” named by a character of a Walter Moers book.
Accompanying us is our wonderful 30 kg dog, Fredda, who has been with Iris since November 2022 after being rescued. Fredda is a beautiful soul who, once she trusts you, exhibits a calm demeanor with occasional playfulness. However, her past at the rescue center remains a mystery, making her initially insecure around strangers and requiring time to warm up. She isn't immediately inclined to be petted and appreciates it when people talk to her and understand basic dog etiquette (such as avoiding direct eye contact, which she perceives as dominant behavior and finds unsettling initially).
Fredda is easily won over by delicious, dog-friendly treats. Being a shepherd mix, she possesses a sensitive yet protective nature, which, alongside her insecurity, presents a complex personality. We want to be transparent to avoid any surprises, yet we don't want this to deter potential hosts from considering us as couchsurfers. Therefore, please feel free to communicate with us if you have any concerns. :)
To add, we have visited families with children, friends, and other dogs during our travels, and Fredda has generally done well in these interactions—much like how humans get along with each other. :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
"Isn't the whole world full of friends?" a good friend asked. That's pretty good expressing, why I'm (Iris) here.
And we think it is so important to give space for individual travelers who just do. :)
