About Me

I am a girl from a small freezing town in Russia's Far North, where I spent my childhood. For seven years I lived in Moscow, where I studied, met my best friends and my husband. Last August I moved to Germany to join my husband.
I don't like crazy parties and clubs and prefer a quite evening at home, at a cozy restaurant or at a nice jazz bar with a glass of whiskey :) And when the day comes, I love going to museums (paintings and sculpture or history and fashion) and strolling around the city, just to feel its spirit in the streets, cafes and people. I love city tours but only when conducted by locals who are in love with the city and has something unconentional to tell about the place)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm looking forward to meeting new people, while travelling with my friends and my husband. I might also become one of the hosts in the future.
And I'm always keen to meet you and show you Frankfurt :) I live in Bad Homburg, which is one of the plenty of interesting small and not that small locations surrounding the big city. Personally I love the region's capital Wiesbaden most of them all)

Interests

Travelling, art history, cooking, foreign languages, social history.
No politics and religion.
I lov dancing but have not danced for quite a long time now. I have a special interest for rumba and tango.

Music, Movies, and Books

Old music - 60s, 90s. Jazz. Anything that makes me feel alive and want to dance :) Old and new pop music as well. I am broad-minded in this sense.
Favourite movies: Intouchables, Atonement, Phoenix, Die Wand, The Best Offer, Awakenings, Any Day Now
Books: mostly non-fiction - arts, social history, good biographies of great people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I jamp with a parachute once alone, if this is what you call amazing. Anyways, this was the most exciting thing I've ever done and experienced. And the most scary one. Have not yet repeated it since - they say the second time is even scarier, so you need some courage for that!
A 10-day tour around some parts of India, a three-week stay in Darjeeling and seeing Annapurna at sunset would rank second. And vipassana - which I happened to fail but which was an unusual experience that I could come back to sometime in the future.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm keen to share my knowledge of foreign languages, though it is a rather demanding task for a short stay. And I can help you with Russian being a native speaker.
I'd be glad to be shown around the new place or to get some tips but I'm also perfectly capable of being on my own and exploring the city alone) I also love cooking - and eating. So visiting local places with national cuisuine served is a must.
Having said that, I must add that I used to be a vegetarian and still appreciate vegetarian food and barely eat any meat. At least not the steaks! :)
I learned Spanish for two years, started learning Norwegian at some point and has just completed a Dutch course for beginners.

Austria, Cambodia, France, India, Nepal, Netherlands, Thailand
