ABOUT ME

I´m 22, just finished my BA-studies and at the moment I don´t know yet what I´m going to do next. More generally...I try to live life with a good sense of humour, preferably self-mockery, however I suppose that in general (as long as I´m sober) I am a serious, rather calm person who definitely prefers asking and listening to speaking.
Speaking (of) myself, I try my best to be authentic and honest and in turn I like people who are honest with me and, more important, with themselves.
I do enjoy freaky party nights dancing my feet off, and just as much I can sit around for hours with a glass of wine, some bits of cheese, cigarettes and a good conversation. For me, a good conversation (and a good relation) includes the option to stay silent next to one another and still feel comfortable.
I like to get to know people and find out about their opinions, wishes, regrets, history, doubts, ideas, plans, whatever.
I guess that in general I´m quite an adaptive and considerate person, phew and I am just noticing that it´s really hard to write about who the fuck I actually am - just find out, I think all in all it´s ok! :-)

PHILOSOPHY

I try to live a little more after the motto to just do it, feels much better that way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am completely "green" as it comes to couchsurfing - I think the idea behind it is nothing but perfect and I hope to become an active and generous member of this community and help spread the word.
My general pleasure in getting to know other countries and cultures definitely stems from my parents whose best friends are from England and France and who always used every possibility (and any available cent) to go on holiday abroad.
My curiosity for the idea of couchsurfing was aroused by my friend Sascia (La Bailerosa on CS) who couchsurfed all around the world and actually convinced me to try it out myself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Unfortunately I don´t have any couchsurfing experience because on all my trips until now the question of accommodation had been solved and I hadn´t come across couchsurfing at all.
Apart from two one-month-stays (with host families) in South Africa (Port Elizabeth) and Washington DC I spent two months in Egypt working in a Diving Center and another three months in Brazil, desperately learning Portuguese and working in a day-care centre for socially underprivileged kids.

Interests

I like sports, first of all swimming and diving, skiing, snowboarding, hiking. I like all kinds of music, really no concrete preferences, and I enjoy live music be it a blues, jazz, pop, samba or classical orchestra concert or simply the sound of a guitar and a nice voice.
I once painted a lot which has changed but is planned to be reanimated again, arts in general are definitely a subject of my interest.
Furthermore I LOVE dancing (which does not at all mean that I´m skilled) and I´d love to learn as many ways as possible to move my body to (any) music.
And then I am of course interested in traveling, I like to try the destination´s typical food and drinks accompanied by an interesting conversation.
Finally I enjoy sleeping, hanging around, lying in the sun, reading, writing some ideas down or best, doing nothing specific at all and just watching the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I´ll put some when they come to my mind.
I guess City of God is a film you should have seen just like Don´t Look Back with Monica Belucci and Sophie Marceau, you should at least once have listened to Wagner´s Tristan and Isolde Prelude and danced to Brazilian Forró and have read Sophie´s World.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Brazilian ocean of coffee trees, learning about and how to dance Forró, diving the Red Sea, my first coconut drink in Rio de Janeiro, skiing the alps facing the Mont Blanc...

Teach, Learn, Share

-.- I feel like I haven´t learned anything in my life...I could teach you how to swim and I have a life guard´s degree so I might be able to save you from drowning or teach you how to save others... I might help you out with German, English or French... I could teach you some basic piano skills or at least how to read music...

I´d like to improve, as mentioned, my dancing skills, my language skills in general, my diving skills. I´d like to learn surfing one day and rock climbing and how to play the guitar (I started once but gave up) and the cello (my favorite instrument) and learn how to sing Fado and I´d like to learn how to train my mind to stay positive and optimistic in phases I´m feeling bad.

I´ll share anything that I have if I trust you.
