About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I strive to live each day to the fullest: exploring, learning, traveling the world, loving, and helping others as much as possible along the way.

ABOUT ME

I have wanderlust and a curious heart. I love to learn and explore. I come from a very large Greek family, all of whom I adore. I treasure my family and friends. I am passionate and excited for life. I want to spend my life helping others and bettering the world. As you can probably tell by now, I am an idealist :) I love meeting new people and experiencing different cultures and personalities.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am a new member of CouchSurfing, however, I am extremely excited to become a very active member. I'd love to host CouchSurfers whenever possible and meet people while I CouchSurf myself. I will be living and studying in Barcelona, Spain from August 2011 - January 2012 and hope to utilize CouchSurfing as much as possible. I hope to meet and learn from fellow CouchSurfers around the world. Once I return to the United States, I would love to have CouchSurfers stay with me at my home in California or where I study in Connecticut.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While I lived in Panama, I had friends who were members of CouchSurfing. My friends in Panama hosted CouchSurfers and CouchSurfed themselves at other people's homes. I was always very impressed with how adventurous, exciting, and inspiring the Couchsurfers were. Meeting those people made me want to get involved and I am proud to now be a CouchSurfing member!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

(1) In 2007, I had the incredible privilege to study abroad on a ship for four months where I traveled to 13 different countries around the world, most of which were developing nations. In many ways, this trip shaped who I am today, my dedication to human rights, and the way I view the world.

(2) In 2009, I had the honor of being able to work for the United Nations Development Program in Panama. It was truly inspring to be around such committed, passionate and motivated individuals.

(3) This past year, I worked relentlessly for four months to help a woman and her baby daughter gain asylum in the United States. If she and her daughter did not gain asylum in the United States, they would have been sent back to their home country and been killed. It was one of the most emotional and challenging experiences, but also one of the most rewarding experiences. It was one of my proudest life moments seeing the look on my client's face when I told her she could stay in the United States :)
