ABOUT ME

Since I've started learning Catalan, I've forgotten my English grammar and Spanish vocabulary. I now speak Spatalish. And I can't spell in any language to save my life.
I'll come back to this when I feel inspired.

PHILOSOPHY

[Why do I live my life]
Because I'm curious to see what happens along the way.
[Feelings]
I try. I'm trying to feel honestly; experience my own reactions to circumstances instead of letting culture dictate how I should react.
[Thoughts]
I have learned that your mood can be your choice. You can choose to squeeze the life out of every moment or just drift through, without realizing that life comprises all the little moments. Sometimes I forget to laugh. I hate when I do.
[personal philosophy]
oh good lord this is daunting. hmmmmm.... Respect others. Treat others how you want to be treated. Make your life be the way you want it to be, but realize that many good things happen without/in spite of planning. So don't try to control everything. This is more my morality than anything else. I'm still figuring this one out. And I'm ok with not knowing all the answers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So I just found out about couchsurfing and I think it's absolutely fantastic. The only thing I love more than traveling is meeting new people. I hope I can update this in a few months with all the great experiences I've had.

Music, Movies, and Books

I still laugh every time I read Pride and Prejudice and feel all romantic when I read Wuthering Heights. Orwell scares the hell out of me; I get so paranoid when I read 1984. It's kinda pathetic. On that note, I refuse to watch horror movies. And I close my eyes in suspenseful parts. Whenever I need to feel good, I watch Amelie; when I need perspective, I watch Crash, when I want to laugh; Tommy Boy or Waking Ned Devine; when I need beauty or inspiration, Hero; when I need comfort, the Sound of Music.
My soul communicates through music, so depending on what I need to say depends on what I listen to. Gipsy Kings all the time. Radiohead as well, although too much and I get weary. Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong just make me happy. Buckwheat Zydeco makes me want to dance while I cook in the kitchen. I'll stop here or I'll end up writing a book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My best trip ever: one spring break several friends and I hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon to Havasupai Falls. It is literally breath-takingly beautiful. We hiked 9ish miles through rocks and desert, turned a corner, and entered paradise. The Colorado River is aqua-blue and crystal clear and the trees are brilliant green. And the Grand Canyon itself is indescribable.

Teach, Learn, Share

I just learned how to fold a fitted sheet! It's too complicated to write; if you meet me, I'll show you. Definitely a skill worth knowing.
I would like to learn how to open a wine bottle without a corkscrew; my previous attempts have ended with either broken glass or cork shreds.
