About Me

CURRENT MISSION
A three month backpacking adventure through Southeast Asia! My husband and I got married two years ago but due to life circumstances, we never got to go on our honeymoon. Since we had to wait a few years, we've decided to make our honeymoon the most epic backpacking adventure it can be. We're really excited to learn about different cultures, have fun and interesting experiences, and meet locals to help us get off the tourist track. Our goals are to learn about and experience as much of the world as we can, always with an open mind and a sense of curiosity and adventure. We've been learning Vietnamese the last few months in preparation for this so maybe you can help us practice (and correct our likely terrible pronunciations)!

I'm an actress/writer in Los Angeles. I've narrated 350 audiobooks and have also worked in film, TV, and theater. My husband is an underwater archaeologist specializing in shipwrecks and the California indigenous community. We've both traveled a lot (I traveled in Europe for a year and he spent 9 years sailing around the Caribbean as a kid) and have each driven across the United States three times (twice together!). We have lots of great stories to share! We're always down for meeting new people and having new experiences.

When I was studying abroad in Europe, couchsurfing was my saving grace and allowed me to see 23 different countries on the continent. I also met a ton of great people and even learned a pasta recipe which is still one of my favorites. Best way to travel!

PHILOSOPHY

"A smile, I have found, will take one a long way in any part of the world."
- W.K. Vanderbilt II

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My hosts have been wonderfully friendly and gracious, completely open to conversation and willing to share their many cultures with me. The best thing about CS is the cultural exchange: meeting new people and learning about their little corner of the world. There's no better way to see a city than through a local's eyes. They always show you things you never would have otherwise seen. My favorite thing is to hang out and talk with people who've experienced a very different life than I have. This world needs more of those kinds of conversations.

Interests

I'm an artist at heart. I love things that expand my mind, inspire creativity, and challenge my imagination. I love to explore. I love to fall in love with people, places, things, scenery, moments. I love to learn about the world and the people in it. I can't claim that I'm always successful, but I want to live a life of meaning. A life that inspires myself and others around me.
