Über mich
CURRENT MISSION
Finding a creative fulfilling path through life. Experiencing new things, new languages and new people, as well as digging deeper into exisiting experiences, language and relationships.
ABOUT ME
Native Californian recently moved to NYC to work in theatre and experience someplace different from home. I am half Korean and half german/croatian, but culturally I am 100% northern california bohemian. I grew up in an artistic family, my father is a painter and my mom used to paint as well. I dropped out of public school at 12 to pursue homeschooling/Unschooling. I read a lot and just pursued various interests at home for a couple of years and then I started going full time to community college. I was drawn toward clothing design/wearable art/textile art and I pursued a degree at UC Davis in Experimental and Sustainable Fashion and Textile Design.
While I have high standards for life, I believe in living unpretentiously. Art and beauty should be incorporated organically into your life, not through a series of impressive memorized facts. Read great works of literature, surround yourself by art and culture, not to impress others but because it brings you real joy. That being said I love information and love knowing about things and talking and sharing information, but hopefully not in a know-it-all pretentious way.
I am decisive and fickle. I love words, concepts, theorizing, breaking down barriers, creating new rules and understanding as much as possible. I'm not easily weirded out, but I have large eyes so people often think I'm surprised or intimidated when I'm not.
I want to know everyone's perspective and the whys and hows of what makes us who we are.
I'm funny in an ironical, sardonic, absurd way. I want to be truly bilingual and I love language and communication.
PHILOSOPHY
Life is short, if you want to do something you better start now or it'll just take longer.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Mostly I participate by going to CS events and showing travelers around the city. I still don't consider myself a true local, but I'm actively learning about this city constantly.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Meetups and hang outs only so far. I would like to host someday and I would definitely like to surf!
Interessen
Books especially speculative conceptual science fiction, cooking, learning how things work/ gathering new skills and techniques, sewing, costuming, fashion (as an art and not commerce), wearable art, textiles, crafts, exploring the world, language, theorizing, deciding things in a flash of inspiration and then changing my mind if I find that my inspiration has changed.

Movies: So many movies!! Most things by Coen Bros, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Be Kind Rewind, 5th element, Gloomy Sunday, Mostly Martha, and the list goes on
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
The things I find amazing are either odd or feel like bragging but I guess one thing is: I managed to go to college without going to highschool, I guess that's sort of amazing, but to me it's just my life. :)

Sewing: practical mending for the traveler, or real sewing for art, design and craft. Knitting, crochet, embroidery.
English language conversation partner.
On the other side I'd like to learn: to cook food from other cultures, german language (for now, maybe more to come) and anything that expands my cultural perspective
