About Me

Hi everyone! I'm Elias from Genova, Italy. Also citizen of the EU but first of all a simple human living in the World!

Currently I'm studying architecture but not to become an architect. Weird right? Well the fact is that after few years of studying I've unterstand that this isn't my way. Fortunately with the degree in architecture I can teach arts in school and I said to myself: you love arts, love teaching and share and enjoy stay in touch with young people and new generation... so here we are!

I'm a very open-minded and adaptable guy who enjoys people, travels and nature. I'm always open and willing to try new experiences, learn new things, meet new people and discover new places. So "new" is very important for me and it helps me to feeling alive! Specially with people, sharing different stories, cultures and experiences it's the only way to have a larger point of view of this wonderful world and in what we're doing everyday.

Fun fact: I've a real passion for everything related with transportation: a XIX sec. train in a museum? An airport? An old pier on the sea? A modern truck on the highway? No matter what is it, usually if it is related with transportation I like it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

First time I signed up in CS was with an other account during 2013. I was only 18 years old and too scared to meet strangers. So never verified and never used it, and consequently I've lost the access data. In 2017 I've decided to sign up again but like the first time, maybe I was too busy, i've never used it. Now I am at my early experiences and i've only two things to say: it's really really great and why i didn't start before! This community really encounters my idea about travelling and knowing new people. Now I'm on a long journey but I can't wait the time when I'll return home and open my home for surfers and show them my city!

Interests

I'm interested a little bit in everything.

I love human being and so arts, philosophy, history, languages and culture are some of my main interest.

Also I really enjoy nature and outdoor activities like hiking and swimming/snorkeling in the sea.

I love travelling and discovering places, and when I'm during a journey I always try to see cities, countries and wilderness of the country or the region I'm visiting. Cities are full of energy and people, you can meet a lot of new interesting friends and any urban area has some stories to tell you. Countries are quiet but also very authentic and home of traditions, I can find a lot of serenity here. Wilderness areas are wonderful, they can show you the power and the beauty of the nature and put yourself in a constant challenge with your limits.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC
I'm open to any type of music and my favorite genres depend by my mood of the time and phases of my life. Usually my more listened genres are: Italian music from "classic" singer to modern rapper, rock music from origins to every old and new branch, french and American hip-hop, folk in general I a lot of different language, reggae, ska, tribal music. My favorite artists are: Rolling Stones, Toto, Murubutu, Rancore, Caparezza de Andrè, Guccini, Rino Gaetano, Battiato, Talco, Boikot, Saltatio Mortis, Sexion d'Assaut and above everyone Manu Chao!

BOOKS
Unfortunately I'm not a great reader, but I'm trying to improve this. Btw my favorites books are A Song of Ice and Fire and Dostoevsky in general.

MOVIES
As for music I'm open to everything. I usually like historic, drama and adventure movies, but also comedy and action. My favorite director is Martin Scorsese. My favorite TV series are: GoT, Breaking Bad, Vikings Dark, BoJack Horseman, Big Mouth and probably some others.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning above anything.
I want to learn everything in this beautiful world, I know that's impossible, but this isn't a limit, on the contrary it is a strong motivation too keep learning: it's a wonderful and endless journey!

Sharing a good conversation or an experience with different people is always a good opportunity to learn and teach, maybe a little, maybe a lot but from every exchange we have something to gain. This is the point, every sharing of stories, experiences or everything else should be an occasion for teach and learn at the same time, because everyone has something to take and something to give to anyone else!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Conversation and sharing about everything, I'm always interested in discovering new topics.

Also I'm quite good at cooking, and I'll be happy to cook or teach some Italian recipes for my host... including my specialty: homemade Italian pasta!
