About Me
Hello there! I'm Elias, an international student (until very recently, at least) and an aspiring adventurer. I grew up in Finland, but spent the last couple of years of my high school in rural India (nearby the city of Pune). Then I went on to attend college in the United States, and just graduated this past May.
As soon as I first left Finland, I fell in love with traveling. The excitement of a new city, of new people, of being on the road... there's something thoroughly magical about it! I love low-budget travel in particular, hitching rides and staying with locals. Long-haul bus rides are another long-time favorite of mine - I never feel quite as home as when I'm lounging on the window seat of a bus, with many more hours to go.
Oh, and I love beer, and nights of drinking and laughter that turn into mornings - with friends old and new alike.
All in all, I love adventure and I love making friends!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think Couchsurfers are a really exciting bunch. Even now that Airbnb is around, you are willing to let people stay over for free - just to be helpful and to make a new friend? It sparks such joy in me that there are still people like that around. It makes the world feel small to have a friendly face welcome you into a new city. I want to take part in that, and I want to get to know you, and that's why I'm on Couchsurfing.

Music, Movies, and Books
These days, I've found myself reading a lot of novels by Haruki Murakami. Growing up, I used to love the scifi books of Isaac Asimov and later David Brin. I really enjoy Quentin Tarantino's films (Deathproof is my long-time favorite) but I also binge on anything from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I'm an unashamed fan of plenty low-brow TV shows: New Girl, Brooklyn 99, iZombie, and Lucifer are all big favorites. OH, and Bollywood movies! A big fan of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, 3 Idiots, and Gully Boy.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Still working on it. Any day now.
