About Me

Hi, my name is Ahdya. "Elias" is my legal name, but I'd rather be called "Ahdya" or critter. Oh, also, I use they/them pronouns!

Currently relocating, so have patience. Message me if you would like some insights about places or possibly meet up for a small outing; otherwise, I'm sorry to say I'm not in a position to host right now

Why not judge me like a tattoo and read some of my writing:

One big intent of mine:

To educate others on the value and necessity for a sustainable and communicative society. The world is full of suffering and repression because I believe people have lost the capacity to be compassionate and to be honest. People where I live walk around with flat faces, stoic and sad, just to hide their insecurities and appear tough. I never understood why people feel the need to assume this stoic and sad character just to navigate life as an adult.

PHILOSOPHY

Running away will never relieve me from what follows. My past is my shadow and I will always be myself no matter where I am. I do not travel to "find" myself; rather, I travel to learn from others, in hopes that the things I learn today will be of value tomorrow. Travel opens the heart, tearing it at times. But through struggle we learn to become more compassionate.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Everyone is on some journey, if they choose it. To be able to be a part in someone else's journey is such a honor. The hospitality to someone, even for just one day or night, can linger in a lifetime of a story.

Interests

My main practice is smiling, it is something I must practice and get better at as I still struggle with smiling myself. So, I make it a game. I smile while staring people in the eye until they smile back. A bit dangerous at times, but as I wrote above, I never understood why people believe they cannot navigate this world without assuming the character of a stoic, sad adult. Smiling reminds us that we are made of soft tissue and organs that only want to be loved and be warm...why do we hide this?

What I Can Share with Hosts

When I come to be in someone's life I tend to offer my most sincere attention. While I am considerate of a space and offer to help out, I also try to bring a positive energy that lets that host know I'm present and caring. I think from there fantastic conversation and connection occur.
