Overview
About Me
I am definitely an OG couchsurfer back in old days in the early 2010s. So coming back to this profile after so many years make me a cringe a little but is also an interesting insight into a person I was all those years ago. I’ll leave basically everything that was there all those years ago here as homage but also as its own memory.
If requesting for hosting dm on insta @notelias.jpeg I’m quite responsive there
NEW BIO
Computer science grad working in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence for a number of years now. Very much a STEM nerd but also love gaming, board games and reading vast amounts of books each year.
In my more recent years I’ve travelled a bit less couchsurfery but still seeking adventures and meeting interesting people. To me nothing beats having deep meaningful conversations with strangers and sharing profoundly human experiences. I love hearing about peoples dreams, ambitions and life experiences and over the years I’ve been privileged to meet some truly extraordinary people and have them be a part of my life.
For me I’m not necessarily looking to be hosted nowadays but if that did happen it would be great. I’m more interested in meeting people with different perspectives and culture and to share ideas over a nice walk in a foreign land for me over some good food 🍱🥙🍕🥘🍲🍛🍜🥟🍧🍮🍉🍓🍚🍢🥨🍡🍥
OLD BIO
For my age I think I rank as pretty nuts seeing as 3 times in my life I've just picked up my bag and gone away without a word to anyone and come back either after a few weeks or a few months. An almost Olympian 3 times so fitness and diet are life to me as well. I'm a really creative fun guy who loves to learn as much as I can about this crazy thing we call life. I'm pretty sure all my friends worry about my travels seeing as I've returned with some crazy stories that could only happen while travelling but they still love me "I think". My interests and knowledge span across next near to everything, from history, art , programming, biology, anatomy to languages. Everyone tells me that I have the "gift of the gab" which is an Irish phrase for the ability to talk and have people hanging on your every word. So yeah I think im a pretty easy guy to be around and just good company
PHILOSOPHY
NEW
This section scream of youth and tbh it’s rather wholesome. While my thoughts may have changed I do believe that’s it’s important to get up everyday and try to bring a bit of light into the world. Benjamin Button is still probably a favourite film of mine. But I would add the quote from Kung Fu Panda about the yesterday, tomorrow and today to my personal mantra
I'm a believer that you only get one go life and well you might as well make the most of it.
Life never stops for you and we all have to keep up with it
When your about to die and your life flashes before your eyes , make sure you have plenty to watch
I think this sums me up a lot and comes from one of my favourite films of all time

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've been hosted a few times and hosted a few times and I have a thirst for it now and I just want to leave the hostels and crash on peoples couches. The people I've met have been Incredible and have made me grow so much so Thanks Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Unforgeable without it I wouldn't have been able to see all I have seen on my constant shoe-string budget for travelling. After all everyone's got an interesting story but couchsurfers have better ones ;)
Interests
I'm big into art such as sketching and painting, I became a professional photographer and 18(please don't say this is something we share in common). I'm also a big fan of writing, short stories, diary entries and just general thoughts. I keep is shape with running, swimming, cycling, rowing and weightlifting. I also enjoy just going for general walks around the mountains and lakes. Since learning how to ride a bike in June 2013 (yes I know a bit late) I love it so much its one of the few things that gives me unbelievable pleasure. Coding and reading about new technologies.

Music, Movies, and Books
Honestly there is very few films I dislike. But i'm a massive fan of a beautiful looking film with good cinematography.
If I had to pick a favourite it would be Shawshank redemption. But honestly I've seen so many great films that its hard to think of them all

Oh and "a sense of an ending".
I also read a lot of old poetry irish and american and "Inferno" by Dante
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
NEWEST MOMENT
Watched the northern lights sitting in a tent at 3am while sipping hot chocolate and feeling at peace with the world.
I asked my friends this recently and they said nothing which made me feel kinda bad for them.
Me on the other hand well my life has been described as a film. I've been to a lot of countries for my age, I've met some truly wonderful people and above all I've done it with a smile. If I had to pick one moment it would have to be the time my friend and I drove around for hours in the sun and stopped at a spot overlooking a lake and then just staying there all night talking and drinking under the stars.
ok wait that was my old moment...
New moment
When is Switzerland my friend drove me up the mountains and we free-wheeled down the alps . It was incredible and I don't thing I've ever felt more alive
Teach, Learn, Share
NEW
UGHHHH this section is sooo cringe. Knowledge is to be shared and everyone learns in their own ways. This text is proof that growth happens to people. In all seriousness I can teach all of these things but in todays day and age you can learn all these things online easily from people who are much better teachers then me most likely. But I’m happy for us to take some cool photos together. 📷
I can actually dislike teaching because most people take education way to casually and don't put in the work to succeed in their endeavours. So unless you can commit to something I cannot teach you anything nor will I probably host you. Below are the things I can teach to dedicated students
PHOTOGRAPHY
People constant ask me how do I take better pictures and this is one of the worst questions to ask because people are using auto focus and wondering why their pictures look like everyone else's. My tip is simple stop trying to be a professional because your not a professional just enjoy it but don't take obvious subjects there is nothing more cringe worthy than seeing someone take a stereotypical tourist photo.
HEALTH & FITNESS
I've been training and doing sport since I was 16 at a high level so I can pretty much guarantee I know more than most humans on earth about what both those words mean.
HISTORY & ART
I worked in the Louvre as a guide for several months so that resulted in my knowledge of art and history brought to the next level. This is where I feel the men and women get separated from the boys and try girls,if you cannot learn from both these mediums then most likely you do not understand the world.
TECHNOLOGY
My final thing I'm willing to share is with technology, I love a good programming problem and it's an area where is it impossible to know everything people are constantly teaching you new things. So if you are one of those idiots who believe that programming is hard please don't send a request.
I work in IoT currently because it's a super interesting area, also it's nice to work with some hardware and learn about electronics
