About Me

I'm a recent graduate in New Media and English. That was great, I love literature. But I'm also happy to be out in the real world now. I've travelled a lot with my family before, so now I'm ready for my own adventures.

That's not to say I haven't had adventures before. In fact, I feel like everything in life is more fun if you consider it an adventure. Whether that's doing a degree or writing a novel or travelling across Mongolia with your family.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've couchsurfed with my family for years, and now that I'm travelling alone, it seems the way to go. There's something fantastic about the local knowledge one gets from hanging out with people in their home town. (Also, I'm not particularly loaded with cash, so this helps that way too.)

Interests

I love creative writing. I've been doing it forever, and it never gets old. There's something magical about creating worlds and people totally in imagination. And there's something incredibly fulfilling about sharing those stories after they're done.

I also like going on long walks, spending time with friends, partying, playing music, making films, and long conversations. It's nice to get the balance right between quiet reflective time and loud fun time.

Music, Movies, and Books

At the moment, my favourite band is Joywave. Though, I still listen to my old favourites; Black Sabbath, Ozzy, System of a Down, Alestorm, Stone Sour, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Weird Al.

I usually say my favourite film is The Matrix, but I'm thinking of changing that to The Shape of Water...

With films and books, I love sci-fi and fantasy. I love things with humour and adventure. Terry Pratchett is probably my favourite author. But if it has dragons or robots, I'm probably likely to read it. (What about robot dragons??)

Also, if you haven't seen it yet, you should check out Gravity Falls. It's as if someone made a TV show just for me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I wrote a novel about space pirates. It had lots of puns in it. I'm very proud of it, but haven't shown it to anyone yet.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach the basics of Irish. It's a wonderful language, with lovely turns of phrase and a beautiful sound. (And I speak it fluently.)

I can also talk about Irish history and culture. We have a very interesting background here on the Emerald Isle. Lots of interesting things have happened here.

I'm learning German at the moment, aber, Ich bin nicht sehr gut. It's fun to learn anyway.

If it's something that interests you, I can share what I've learned about the craft of writing over the years. I won't promise it'll make you write masterpieces, but it may be interesting to see/discuss the architecture or imagined worlds.

And I suppose I can share in interesting conversations. I truly love getting to know people and diving deep into the topics that fascinate people.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A sense of fun, a willingness to listen, a respect for your home, and an openness to new people and new experiences.
