About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Make my 'ding' in the universe. Along the way, meet new people, learn new languages (trying to start with French and Spanish), and see all of the local attractions with fellow travellers.
ABOUT ME
*UPDATE*: I'm currently in the process of pulling up stumps and moving to Perth to study. Unfortunately that means I will no longer be able to host in the foreseeable future. Although I've still got a few weeks left in town (when work doesn't have me running around the country-side), what few couch surfing spots I have left have been filled.
Enjoy Alice, it's a wonderful town, and if you'd like to get coffee in Perth/someone to do touristy stuff with, just drop me a message! :-)
I consider myself a pretty unique individual (more-so than what that word automatically implies). Mature for my age, intelligent, and I try to be open-minded (there are days, though...).
I get along well with people, quick to laugh, sunsets on the beach, all that jazz. Part of the reason I moved to the Alice was to see the sights and culture unique to this part of Australia. I enjoy travelling in general, have been to a few other countries, definitely with plans to do more. I have interests in science, the future, economics (or more specifically, how I can make money from the economy), getting outdoors and amongst it, making memories (ask me what I did at the office one week ago from today, I couldn't tell you. Ask me what I was doing on 26 January 2011, I'll tell you about my week skiing down Whistler), self-improvement (if that amuses you, either keep it to yourself or don't bother contacting me), getting the most out of life (a good motto, an even better cliché :-), scaring away the neighbour's cat, sun (plenty of that here), fishing (less plentiful), the beach (non-existent), camping, skiing, hiking, rock-climbing, nature, genuinely happy people (like those hippies that don't own shoes yet always have a smile on their dial, as opposed to those business people who earn $100k per year but have forgotten how to laugh) and the stars. They're magical. I live for travelling, late-night conversations and moments of intense clarity or intoxication.
It's important to note that I'm a young man meant for great things in the world, and for that reason I'm always busy. Whether it be staying on top of the news, watching an interesting documentary, reading the latest financial report, going for a bike ride to stay fit, working (my job owns me, if they tell me to do something unfortunately I have to drop what I'm doing and do their bidding - I'll try to not let this affect any plans we may have, but please be aware of it) surfing the internet to find my latest obsession, listening to music to improve my personal tunes library, working on a uni report (I study part-time), or getting my latest novel-fix - the important thing to take away from this is please don't be offended if I'm not doing something with you all of the time, I've got a destiny to forge.
PHILOSOPHY
I know I'm going places, and want to enjoy the journey there, not just the destination. Clearly I've ripped off a quote there, but I think it's very true and something a lot of people forget. I'd like to always be learning and growing, and leave, if not a lasting legacy with people, then at least a good impression.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've got a small two bedroom house, so happy to offer a comfy bed/futon to weary travellers, but most of all I'd like to meet new people, see all the great things Alice has to offer with them or just chill at a comfy hostel/bar/couch somewhere.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've recently had a lot of experience as a host (I like to think I've gotten pretty good at it), but no experience as a couch surfer. That will change as soon as I have time to strike out on the open road and start travelling.
Interests
The great outdoors, mixing it up with different cultures, learning new words that I usually forget the next day, new experiences and new memories.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Huge variety. Good rule of thumb is anything you'd find on Triple J, and then some. Old and new, commercial and alternative/indie.
Books: At school my nickname was Bookworm, and I still live up to it today. Genres include: sci fi, fantasy, history, war, true stories, self-help, and occasionally everything in between.
Movies: I've been watching them less and less, not sure why, just can't be bothered I guess. Nothing against them, I still enjoy watching them and if someone suggests it I'll definitely be up for it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There's so many, I guess I'll go with... Driving through the mountains of Laos. Stunning scenery, huge mountains carpeted in thick jungle next to long winding rivers. Very beautiful, and I'd love to go back.
Teach, Learn, Share
I think I excel in general (but mostly useless) knowledge. I know I can offer good memories, better networks and an engaging and interested mind. On the practical side of things, my English is pretty good, so that's always on offer.
Apart from the things and reasons I've already stated, I'm still feeling the way for what else I'd like to get out of CS. Grab a beer with me and let's find out together!
