Music, Movies, and Books

Okay, I'm going to try to limit myself here. The highlights:

Music:
Jazz, particularly Coleman Hawkins, Miles Davis, Ben Webster, and Les Mccann;
Experimental jazz, particularly Peregrine Falls
New Orleans brass and soul and R&B, particularly Professor Longhair, Trombone Shorty, Rebirth Brass Band, and Dr. John. Big shouts out to Shamarr Allen;
Early punk rock, particularly Stiff Little Fingers, The Undertones, The Buzzcocks, Generation X, X;
Lo-Fi and electroswing, Especially ProleteR and Caravan Palace,

Movies:
Linklater, the Coppolas (more Sofia, but also Gia and FF of course), most Woody Allen (I know, I know), Guy Ritchie (everything except Sherlock), Shane Carruth, Kieślowski, Antonioni, the original Fast and the Furious (no shame whatsoever), any of the 60s and 70s driving movies (Rendezvous, Grand Prix, Le Mans, The Driver, The Passenger, Two Lane Blacktop, etc.)

Books (sticking to fiction):
Literally every word George Orwell ever put on paper is worth reading,
The Aubrey and Maturin (sometimes known as Master and Commander) series,
The Swallows and Amazons books, which are possibly the best kids books of all time,
Currently working on Thomas Flanagan's Irish trillogy, and a couple of non-fiction books

that's a start

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

If you've never been to Vimy Ridge in France it's well worth the trip, particularly for Canadians.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a mediocre chess player, a half-decent cook, and if you're incredibly nice to me I might even be willing to troubleshoot your electronic and computer woes. I also know a disturbing amount of limericks and stupid word games, which are quite fun if you're lame like I am. The occasional bit of proper poetry too, if you're into that kind of thing.

Countries I’ve Visited

Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Mexico, Monaco, Morocco, Netherlands, Scotland, Spain, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, Denmark
