ABOUT ME
Basic stuff: I live with my sweet daughter, our dogs, cats and two horses in the beautiful countryside in Denmark. I'm teaching psychology and biology at a local high school, but I also have an education as a horse-assisted therapist (which I mostly took for my own personal growth actually, I don't know if I'll be working in this field). We've been living here for 4 years now. Before we lived in the "big city"/Copenhagen, lived a year in New Zealand, and spent 3 months in Hawai'i and 3 months in Eilat, Israel.
Before I started uni, I spent 9 months in Central America (mostly Guatemala & Mexico), and it has a very special place in my heart. I love speaking Spanish (and learning languages in general).
PHILOSOPHY
In order to be helpful, one must understand
In order to understand, one must listen
In order to listen, one must be quiet
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm realising I have been part of CS for more than a decade now. I started couchsurfing in 2006 when I was pregnant, and since then I've had the pleasure of both hosting and surfing a lot. It's been incredible. Even though the website is changing, I think the CS spirit is still alive. Unfortunately, couchsurfers do not seem to pass by where I've been living the past 4-5 years, so I haven't hosted for a while, but I have just opened my home to workawayers, so now I'm having travelers in the home again, and it's also an amazing experience so far :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first experience of random couchsurfing was interrailing through Europe the summer of ´04, arriving late at night at unplanned destinations.
My first organized 'CSE' was when I was walking in Portugal two years later and stayed with Rui in Evora.
Interests
I basically love everything that has to do with animals and nature. I love the ocean, have PADI. Did my master's thesis on dolphin behaviour.
I love dancing, all kinds of dancing.
I've done a bit of rock climbing when I lived in NZ and loved it - would like to do more of that.
When I was a child, I wanted to be a wildlife photographer. Or an astronaut. Or architect. Or a vet. Or an artist. Or a dolphin trainer, until I realized they shouldn't be kept captive.
I grew up in some kind of spiritual community, which has left me with ambivalent feelings towards spirituality. I seek it, but I avoid something too organized or hierachical.

We can talk about that. I don't have a list..
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Giving birth ;)
Fun facts:
I bought a bankrupt kindergarden with a friend and turned it into a collective.
I tried building my own yurt, but never finished. Instead I've held a five day yurt building workshop at a retreat/permaculture center. They named me the 'yurt professor' - haha!
Chose a new first name for myself after turning 30 - but I can't figure out how to change it here on CS.
