Hello, I’m Elisa. This Is Me! (if you get that reference, you rock!) My name is Elisa Calleja and I live on the sunny island of Malta (although I spend quite a couple of weeks during the year popping over to different countries around the world). I am an entrepreneur at heart, having started companies in various industries which has helped me gain extensive knowledge about the business world (and even more about the hardships and the excitement of starting your own business). I have failed many times, but as they say ‘Fail Fast, Fail Often, Fail Forward’!

FUN FACT – In 2015, I won the Brilliant Young Entrepreneur award in the Start-Up Programme organised by JAYE Malta.

I graduated with a Bachelor in Commerce specialising in Marketing and Management at the University of Malta. I believe in continuous education, so I participate in various courses in order to improve my knowledge and stay up to date with current practices in the Marketing world; including Google Academy for Ads, Facebook Blueprint, etc..

My passion lies within the Marketing and Design world. I am obsessed with beautiful and clean design.

FUN FACT – I will refuse to eat at a certain restaurant if I don’t like the design of their menu (to my boyfriend’s dismay).

I have been working as a Graphic and Website Designer for over 8 years and I am not planning to stop and leave this industry anytime soon! Over the years, I have also worked as a Social Media Marketing Manager within one of the startups that I founded which focuses on curating online content for the food and beverage industry. I am also highly obsessed with efficiency and I pride myself on being extremely organised, efficient and effective.

FUN FACT – My favourite software that I can’t live without is Trello.

I believe that everything starts from an idea and with the help of the right people, this idea can flourish into a thriving business and become a reality. I am passionate about helping businesses reach their long-term and short-term business goals through Marketing and always strive to provide my clients with quality results and high satisfaction. I prefer taking on a few projects at a time in order to immerse myself within the business and deliver great results.

When I’m not working, you can find me exploring the world around me through Geocaching (did you know that there are millions of geocaches hidden around the world – there are probably some near you right now). I am also trying to get into an exercise routine including running, hiking and going to the gym (however we all know how hard this is). Although I am sure I’ll get there (fingers crossed)!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Would love to meet other travellers and share fun travel stories and experiences :) I will be in South East Asia from March 2020 till around September 2020 so I would love to meet some locals and travellers alike to create memorable experiences!

Adventures and Trips - I was quite scared to do some crazy outdoor adventures, but over the past couple of years, I have tried getting out of my comfort zone and doing as many outdoor adventures as I can.

- Paragliding in Interlaken, Switzerland
- Canyoning in Wadi Mujib, Jordan
- Abseiling in Wadi Shgeifat, Jordan
- Visited the Hoia Baciu Forest (one of the most haunted forests) at night in Cluj Napoca, Romania
- Motorbike Trip from Italy up to England in 1 month
- Diving in 3 countries (Malta, Cyprus and Jordan)
