About Me

"To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life.”

Hi! My name is Elisa and I'm an aspiring doctor/photographer (and actually a student) from Genova, Italy.
I've been studying Biological Science at university for one year and now I'm travelling and focusing on myself before setting the Medicine admission test.
I'm not good at describing myself, I prefer to let the others have the opportunity to create themselves their opinion about me.
I'm curious, active and cheerful. I love the nature and the ocean and spending my freetime "into the wilderness". I enjoy visiting new countries, getting to know new cultures and new people, too. What's more? I'd like to make new friends all over the world and share with them my adventures!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that the only way to appreciate every shade and aspect of a country is to get to know how its people live. Couchsurfing would allow me to make new friends and maybe to save a little money to invest in new trips.

Interests

As you can understand from my profile picture, I love surfing. Despite of what people usually believe, we actually have waves and swells in Italy! I'm keen on doing every type of activity related to the sea, like diving, snorkelling and swimming. In general, I prefer spending my time "into the wild", hiking and horseriding and skiing in winter time. I'm an animal-lover and my family is composed also by my two dogs. I've a passion for photography and I always take my camera with me during my journeys.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm always keen on discovering new singers and to listening something new, even though I manly listen to indie and rock music. I grew up with Red Hot Chili Peppers and Coldplay and they probably are my favorite bands.
I'd like to improve my "movie culture", but I really like movies like "The secret life of Walter Mitty", "Forrest Gump" and "Into the wild".
Some of books I'm always pleased to reread are: "Il barone rampante" by Italo Calvino, "Ten little niggers" ("Dieci piccoli indiani") by Agatha Christie, "The old man and the sea" by Ernest Hemingway and "Lo que esconde tu nombre" by Clara Sànchez .

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went skiing in the Alps, horse riding in Glenorchy (where The Lords of the Rings was filmed), dove into the freezing waters of Lofoten Islands in Norway, watched Garret McNamara surfing huge waves in Nazaré in Portugal, scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef in Cairns, attended a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert, swum by free dolphins in Egypy

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you some languages that I've been studying at school for so long, like french and italian. I've been studying spanish for 4 years too and I would like to practice it a little more. Moreover, I've been studying at Biological Science University for one year, so I can share with you my biology knowledge. I can also tell you some of my country's most famous recipes (I enjoy cooking but I love eating, too!) and trying to prepare them with you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can certainly offer you a possible friend and many good conversations! Anyway, I could cook with you and, obviuosly, I'd be useful by helping you with the house management or take your dog out for a walk. I'd carry out every task tou ask me to do, to thank you for your trust and your hospitality.
I have no problem getting my hands dirty and I'm always ready to give a help.
