About Me

Hi, I'm Elisa (she/her) and I’m originally from Germany, but lived in a few different countries in the past years.

I loooooove learning and using new languages (as you can see below haha), getting to know different cultures, and connecting with people from around the world.
That’s why I really enjoy slow traveling. (So far, I’ve travelled and lived in Australia for 1yr, Italy for 2yrs, Lebanon for 1yr, and my next long-term destinations will be Sri Lanka and Poland.)

I have been volunteering and working for years in the field of human rights, with a focus on women’s and LGBTQIA+ rights in combination with linguistics.

In my free time, I enjoy being creative, engaging in all kinds of sports, listening to and making music, and of course, traveling.

That's enough about me for now, let me know about you! :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm interested in getting to know different cultures and meeting new people from all over the world. I think it's awesome that nowadays we can connect with foreign places so easily and have access to people everywhere around the world.

Interests

I like travelling, learning new languages, sewing, crafting, taking pictures of everything I see, being outdoors, reading, art, discussing politics and trying and exploring new and different things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to nearly all kinds of music that sound good to me, though I’m generally very into rap.

I love poetry and non-fiction books.
Since we can learn the most by listening to other people, I also enjoy reading biographies of inspiring personalities, as well as numerous essays and research articles.
One of my favourite books is 'The Alchemist' by Paulo Coelho, as it taught me to follow my heart. Some of my favourite poets are Rainer M. Rilke, Chandra L. Candiani, and Wislawa Szymborska.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I couldn't decide on one, because every place I go is different and incomparable to the others, so I reckon traveling is one of the greatest things I have done.

*and maybe diving in the Great Barrier Reef in 2019, as it had been my biggest dream since I was twelve.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you some German or Italian and give you an insight in my culture. I can also show you how to sew/fix anything (we can have a sewing 101 if you're interested) or I can teach you how to cook/bake nice vegan food (i'm famous for my deliiiiicious cinnamon rolls).

Also, I'm currently training to become a self-defense instructor for women, so I can also teach you some effective self-defense techniques (to be safe for all your future travels).

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lebanon, Netherlands, Portugal, San Marino

Countries I’ve Lived In
