About Me

Hi! My name is Elisa and I’m 23 years old. I study mathematics at the Humboldt-University in Berlin. Being open-minded and a little adventurous, I love travelling and learning about new cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Since I have spent a year abroad in Colombia and in England, I can hardly wait to explore more places in the world and to meet more interesting people. I really like the idea of Couchsurfing because it’s a different way of travelling: You do not only see incredible places, but you also get to know a new friend with whom you can spend time and share experiences.

Interests

I study mathematics at the university because it has always been my favorite subject. In my free time I like spending time with friends and doing sports like going jogging, hiking or bouldering. Recently I've started learning Acroyoga, which combines yoga and partner acrobatics, and aerial silk acrobatics. Since my early childhood, I play the flute, predominantly I love playing classical music. During my year in Colombia, I discovered my passion for dancing Salsa and Bachata, as well as Kizomba.

Music, Movies, and Books

As I’ve already mentioned, I like classical music, but also music from Latin America. Although I usually don’t find much time for reading, I really enjoy it. One of my favorite books is “The Monk who sold his Ferrari” by Robin Sharma because it makes you think about the philosophical question how to lead a fulfilled life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Two years ago I did a voluntary service in Colombia. As a teacher assistant I helped in the English classes of a public school, gave German lessons and motivated students that stem from poor families. I also got the opportunity to travel to different places in Colombia, such as Bogotá, the capital of the country, the Caribbean coast, the Amazonian rain forest and the second largest Canyon of the world named Chicamocha. But what these trips made so special were the nice families that hosted me and showed me around. This experience with all its highs and lows shaped me and aroused my interest in getting to know more cultures.
