About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm very open minded and open hearted. I grew up in California and moved to northern Germany seven years ago (in 2010.) I have a great interest in community and progressive ideas like permaculture, the gift economy, and sharing the world's resources to end poverty in the world. I'm an avid meditator (since nearly 30 years.) I've raised two children, now young adults and they keep me very current. I teach EFL/conversational English in a corporate setting in Germany. I also freelance write for the magazine Share International, a group with which I have been engaged as a volunteer for many years. I eat a vegetarian diet and have a lot of experience with cooking.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My adult daughter has encouraged me to explore more of the world. I've enjoyed Airbnb, as the hosts are often very welcoming and share a lot about the local scene, but like the idea of meeting new people in new places through a platform related to the gift economy.

Interests

I'm focused on living a spiritual life, as I see it. I like a quiet meditative life - I'm contemplative, and enjoy being in nature. I like to cook, especially for others. I enjoy meeting new people and sharing ideas.

Music, Movies, and Books

Classical, classic jazz, progressive rock, world music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Riding bicycles in seriously intense wind on the Isle de Porquerolles off the Côte d'Azur, France. Watching energetic traditional Flamenco dancers in Cadiz, Spain - incredible! Watching a baby seal crawl onto a beach from the ocean in Northern California, while I was alone taking a walk... magical.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach meditation and conversational English. I love to learn about new ideas and share my experiences of living in community (cohousing and ecovillages) and raising children.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to share cooking skills and recipes.
