About Me
Hey there, nice to meet you (hopefully soon)! I'm Elli, a 28-year-old student from Germany, who is going to spend a couple of weeks on beautiful Iceland in September.
Ever since I was a child I am very interested in different cultures and ways of life, which is why I chose to study cultural anthropology. Now I am working on my master's thesis and I decided to do part of my research on Iceland as I've always wanted to travel there anyways.
One of my main interests (of study - and in general) is sustainable tourism. I love travelling, getting to know new cultures and spending time in nature - but unfortunetaly tourism often comes with bad influences for local nature and culture. This is why I'm very happy to work part-time at a small sustainability agency where we publish a great magazine about sustainable tourism.
But you are probably more interested in my personality than in my CV... 😉 Ok, ok, here we go:
I am more of an introverted person but communicative and fun at the same time. I'm open-minded and very interested in other people and their stories and ways of perceiving the world. In my free time I love to go on camping trips, do outdoor sports (hiking, biking, kayaking, rafting,...), take part on all kind of cultural events (theatre, poetry slams, concerts,...) and spend time with my family's dog (training great things such as mantrailing). I also like cooking, reading, writing, playing the guitar (at least I try) and - obviously - spending time with my friends. I am a very reliable person and I'm always happy to participate in any kinds of housework.
If you have any questions, let me know! 😊
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I hope to meet interesting people and make international friends. For me, Couchsurfing is a great opportunity to learn more about different cultures, have people to talk to even though I'm travelling by myself - and to save some money while exploring your stunning (but expensive) country.
Once I finish my studies and move to another place, I'll offer my couch to you guys in return as I really like the idea of Couchsurfing!
